So the different colours represent the different grits? And they look like they are on flexible material.

Correct.  I have been using them for a couple of years now and finally get me a new set.  I read the directions when I opened them,, the roughest is called 1500, but they say it compares to a 400 grit wet/dry piece of normal sandpaper.  Talk about confusing.  Why not just call it 400 and go up from there.  The set goes up to 12000 which to the touch feels like a piece of smooth leather.  I have used a 5" round version for my ROS many times.  I used up to the 12000 on some cutting boards.  Talk about smooth.
