Ok I know that this pattern has already been requested and completed, but because I have not made a pattern in over 6 years, I wanted to choose something that would not be cut again. So my request is that you all pick apart my pattern so I can focus on the things I need to refine. I want to get back to where I was with my pattern making and improve it.  Thanks  (edit for typo)

Ok no takers, ohh well. I promise I am not going to take anyones head off, or be offended if someone says that I dont like this about the pattern or this part is good but this area should be tweaked a little. I am a big boy with thick skin, I can take "negative" comments, specially because I asked for them.

Ok Messman, I know absolutely nothing about making patterns but I'll give you my opinion. I like the flag in the background and everything about the dog with the exception of the dog's right eye. Also, what appears to be a collar along the right side of his (or her) neck seems to be very loose. Not seeing the original picture you made this from I may be interpreting it completely wrong. I've seen similar pictures since my wife was a police K-9 dog trainer when we met. Additionally, I was a supervisor for the police K-9 unit for a period during my tenure on the police department. We did similar pictures which were made into baseball card type pictures to give away to elementary school kids when we put on demonstrations. Anyway, I think the pattern has great potential with the exception of those two spots. Again, I didn't see the original picture and the pattern once cut may look perfectly normal.

Hi Chris:
If I remember correctly, you made some awesome patterns years ago
What program are you currently using?  I would change it
The one side looks ok, but I agree with Rodney about the other side
I don't know if this makes sense but the whole pattern is not crisp enough
The stars should be more defined.
Hope this helps you in your quest, but I seriously think you know what needs
to be changed on this pattern

Thank You Both,

I agree about the collar, but that is the way it was in the original picture. Eyes, are the vain of my existence. When I did my pattern clean up I lost some of the eye detail. I was going for a little "blur" in the stars to bring focus on the K9. But yea I was not happy with the way it came out. I also worked with a picture that I think was to small to start with (original pic found in pattern requests) but I did want to work a pattern that would challenge my rusty skills.

The one thing I know is that we are our own worst critics, and what I see as issues others may not see and I may not see something that others may see. This is why I asked for the critique of the pattern. As I do more patterns I will be asking for more critiques.

I am using the newest Gimp and newest Ink scape, programs. I am relearning both of those programs as they have changed a lot since I have used them last. I use Gimp as my primary pattern making program and then I use Ink scape to clean up the pattern. I use to use photo shop 7 I think it was as my primary program. But I am not paying for Photo Shop when I have Gimp, I just have to get use to it some more.  I think I need to play with the settings when I clean up the pattern, but I fumbled through through it big time to just get it to do the basics of what I wanted.

Again thank you for the input it was very helpful.

Chris:
Once you get by the learning curves, you will be back to your old self (pattern making)
You seem to know where the changes need to be on this one, so that is a good start
Looking forward to your patterns and work
Keep it going
