Popular Post Zoot Fenster Posted February 3, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 3, 2022 Another project from the Kathy Wise Beginners book. Curly maple background, white area and leaves (dyed red and orange). Walnut body. Wenge for feet and tail. Spray can polyurethane finish. Cuts were almost all with a #7 skip tooth (because I had a bunch of them). First project worthy of the living room wall per my wife. It was fun. One more to go and I am done with the book. preprius Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 it appears that Kathy wise could hire you. After your 2nd project it looks like your well beyond the book. All looks great. Quote

Dak0ta52 Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 Fantastic job, David. I've wanted to try something like this but don't have access to the various woods like many others on the forum... at least I haven't found a retailer in my area. And I actually work for a company that has a lumber yard. Quote
Zoot Fenster Posted February 4, 2022 Author Report Posted February 4, 2022 Prepius: Thank you, but I am still learning this art. It looks better in the photograph! After a year, I can pretty much cut to the center of the pattern line. Dakota: I do cheat a little. I have lots of curly maple which I dye to various colors. More like segmentation than intarsia. The Austin wood stores have been pretty good for specialized wood, except for aspen. I can't find that white wood anywhere, so curly maple to the rescue. Cypress makes a good substitute for red cedar and is easier to cut straight. If anyone is in the Austin area, I have lots of cutoffs of curly maple, mahogany and walnut. Thanks for looking. Quote
don watson Posted February 6, 2022 Report Posted February 6, 2022 Very well done and I like the segmentation bit. Quote

Zoot Fenster Posted February 7, 2022 Author Report Posted February 7, 2022 Yep, sorry, Austin Texas. If attacked by clowns, always for the juggler. Quote
