johnh Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Hi all, I am new to using the scroll saw and pattern making and I am having a problem with re sizing using Gimp. Every time I re size the photo to 8x10 it always comes out much smaller when I print a copy. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thanks John Quote
Messman Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 when you are resizing make sure that you have inches selected. Thats the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that you could be doing wrong. If you are selecting inches when you resize I am at a loss. Quote
johnh Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 Thanks,but I do have inches selected. A 10x8 prints to a 7 1/2 x 6 inch. Thanks John Quote
Travis Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 The only other thing I can think of is that you have auto scaling set on your printer. If your picture is wider than tall, your printer is probably scaling it to fit, which would include 1/2" margin on each side (2x1/2" + 7.5"=8.5"...the width of your paper). Try either rotating the picture so the long side is going up and down, or choose "landscape" mode on your printer. Also turn off any auto-scaling. Quote
johnh Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 I changed the settings for the printer (removed the margins) and that made the picture very close to the correct size. Thanks John Quote
