Since it may be awhile before I find or replace my lost digital camera and I only have a few pics of my work, I thought I'd post this piece I made for my youngest daughter's wedding this past summer.post-15489-13495558917_thumb.jpgpost-15489-134955589266_thumb.jpg

This is a TV stand, made of red oak, stained a medium brown, with a coat of clear shellac and finished with an oil modified, waterborne polyurethane. Everything is made of solid wood. The only plywood is the back panel. The lumber comes from trees on my father-in-laws farm. He, my BIL & I cut down several trees and took them to a local sawyer to be made into boards. They've been drying in the barn for a few years now.

The design mimics one I saw at an local arts & craft festival and I found pictures of one very similar on-line. I didn't have any plans, just the pictures and some general dimensions. It's sort of Mission inspired, but I didn't attempt to make it a true Mission Style piece.

The bottom picture shows it in their apartment. As you can see, their TV components fit almost perfectly in the open bays. That was more an accident than anything else. I had a general idea of what was going in there, but never took any measurements of the components. By pure chance, it looks like the piece was designed around them.

Thanks for looking.
