kmmcrafts Posted November 7, 2022 Report Posted November 7, 2022 So far I have not had too much issues with my post office if I go to the post office.. but my mail carrier has complained about the amount of packages and has a time or two refused to pick-up because I filled her whole Jeep up with packages and she had no room for other pick-ups.. and I totally understand that.. She did mention I could request a special pick-up where they'll come get them but the price for that is more than stupid, LOL Way cheaper for me to just plan an hour a day during peak times to drive them to the service counter. LOL When I can I do print a scan sheet ( if you don't know a scan sheet is a printed bar code scan for all your packages ) but this requires a bit of work on my part because I sell on multiple sites.. on Etsy there is an option to create a scan sheet.. I just found how to do that on Amazon too now so that'll make things easier for the sorters etc.. But what makes it a bit harder for me is the fact I have to keep the packages separated and the scan form needs to be with the correct bin of packages.. so this year I'll make a Etsy bin and a Amazon bin and place the scan form with the corresponding bin. So long as I'm conscious about keeping them separated it might go smooth... Hopefully, LOL Anyway, any other sellers here have issues with post office scanning? https://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/abblog/blog.pl?/pl/2022/11/1667759211.html Quote

That means work though.. so be careful what you wish for. I don't know if you read that article in the link and the comments below that. Some are saying that the post office refuses to scan more than 10 packages and make the person go to a different post office as they said they are too small of a office. What gets me is they complain about how the postal system looses money every year but treating customers like this will chase them to UPS and FedEx.. I do get the whole scanning thing if you bring in 100 packages.. it's kind of the same as paying for you gasoline with pennies LOL.. but on the other hand business is business and the staff shouldn't be rude to someone bringing in business after all the customer is why they have a job.. I do believe they should make the scan sheets more known and right there so sellers know they can do that.. I didn't know about it until just a few years ago and on Amazon I searched everywhere trying to find it or how to do it.. finally in the forums there someone was talking about it and I figured it out.. It's still work for the postal workers as they scan one time on the sheet but they still supposed to count the packages to see that they match up to the number of packages on the sheet.. Mondays are a killer as I have orders all weekend long coming in I stuff the mailbox full as I can on Saturday but from there on has to go out Monday.. I've had instances where Monday I stuff the box full for the carrier and then go to the service counter with 50 or so more packages... I typically do nearly $10000 in sales a week from Thanksgiving week all the way up to the last week of Christmas.. Very busy for about a 3 sometimes 4 week.. and the gradual build up before those busy weeks is busy enough. That's moving a lot of product in a short period of time. The mail lady hates me I think.. They know me when I walk into the service counter.. Barely have any time to actually saw or work in the shop.. most days is just packaging orders. But I like it because yeah.. busy few weeks but it's dead the rest of the year with only a few hundred a month in sales.. It's funny to read the forums on Etsy after the holidays.. I stay busy for a couple month after the holidays but it seems dead after getting that kind of business in a short time.. but people in the forums start freaking out because it's dead all of a sudden.. What did Etsy do etc.. There is just a lot of shoppers Christmas shopping from first of Oct. through the end of the year.. Sanning the packages for Amazon is crucial for the seller.. as if the buyer claims they didn't get the package Amazon will look at the tracking and protect the seller IF tracking shows it was delivered. Amazon handles the issue and will refund out of their pocket if needed.. But if the mail system isn't scanning like they supposed to then that lands on the seller to deal with and Amazon will take the payment back from our payout to refund the customer. There is speculation that if you just use the scan sheet to scan a box full of packages then they may not cover that.. as each package has to be accounted for.. Quote

BadBob Posted November 9, 2022 Report Posted November 9, 2022 The only issue I have with my local USPS is that every time I get a new carrier, I need to train them to do a package pickup. kmmcrafts and Gene Howe 2 Quote

Yeah, me too... another funny thing is.. they want us to use that scan sheet but whenever a different person is at the counter they don't know what it is or how to use it, LOL.. Here in my area for some reason they rotate the people from one branch to another... so they aren't always a "new" employee but rather one that's been there and just never had a scan sheet to scan in the packages.. I've had to teach several of them about the scan sheet.. One day I had 64 packages and I did the scan sheet.. he couldn't figure out how to use it and didn't want to believe me on how to use it so he scanned each package, LOL I stood there for like 20 minutes waiting when he could have just done one scan. The very next day he was like you're right, I talked to the manager and you were right.. Duh! I've been doing this for years why would I lie about my own packages..LOL.. He was really grateful for the learning and time saving scan sheets. BadBob 1 Quote
