Never been there, Come a few hundred K's from it on one trip. The underground homes grew from miner camping in their mines and slowly expanding them.
One thing in video is pretty laughable, The miner panning in the creek/river :) There is bugger all water any where near Coober Pedy, I believe it is piped in and desalinated.these days.  Dry blowing was the method miners used in desert regions  the Goldfields History site - ABC Goldfields WA - Australian ...Would be an interesting place to stay for a night.
