If you are posting a new listing to Goimagine and want to use your Etsy tags, You can paste them into the search keywords as a comma-separated list. Use the comma as a separator since the system does not count words; it counts spaces. If you pack your tags to the maximum limit on Etsy, you may get an error message about a 30-word limit, which will chop off the last part. Use a comma-separated list without the space, and it will work just fine.

Don't switch back and forth between the old dashboard and the beta. There is a risk of losing something if you do. The beta dashboard is missing several fields available in the old dashboard.

The Name Field shows up in the Google search example and under the icons in Mosaic and probably your shop. Depending on the platform, Google only displays the first 50-60 characters. Phones may be less.

The custom H1 Tag is what shows up in your listing. It can be up to 90 characters—learned from experimenting.

Page Title shows at the top of the browser on the title bar. I haven't hit an upper limit in the old dashboard. I copy the title from the Etsy listing here.

I set the meta description to the exact text as the alt text on my photos.

I add two or three keywords to the meta keywords fields. Simple things. They say Google doesn't use this, but things change, and Google is not the only search engine. Indeed, it will never get used if nothing is in the field.

I only use the old dashboard.

Yeah, I've not used the Beta for anything other than occasionally looking at the analytics.. I have not done the alt text of the images themselves yet but need to do that as it helps bring in traffic from image searches.. something I used to do on Artfire and also my website years ago.. I just learned I could do that on GI back before I got so busy with holiday sales.. coming back and getting to work on GI I had to sort of re-learn the dashboard again, LOL..

Getting close to being ready to swap my domain over to the Mosaic and shut down my shopify store I think. I have a lot of cleaning up on Etsy with older listings that are no longer getting views and sales.. time to delete some products (slowly been doing that over the last year as I had over 600 listings a year ago, now have around 450 listings but I need to do a lot more cleaning up ).

Another sale on Goimagine.  That makes two.  Both buyers are other shop owners on Gi, but a sale is a sale!  😀

Are you doing any promotion, social media, etc?

I have had four sales so far.

Congratulations, It's tough getting a new site up and going good, whatever you're doing seems like it's working. I have had 3 orders so far but I have not really promoted or anything. How does one know it was another GI seller that made the purchase?

I've slowly been adding things on my site and plan to very soon send my domain name to the mosaic site. Then I'll be doing some promoting. My deadline is sometime in March as that is when my Shopify expires.. I'd like to have had it done by now but I been dealing with some sinus issues due to my allergies which caused a sinus infection. We spent Thanksgiving at my daughters house and I'm allergic to cats which she has one. Boosted on allergy meds a week leading up to Thanksgiving and I just haven't really felt right since then. Seem to be getting better slowly the last week or so. I can deal with the sinus issues but not when they make me dizzy..

So I switched my domain ( kevskrafts.com ) over to my goimagine mosaic site.. I'm going to have to figure out what I'm going to do with my clock insert sales as I was selling those on my Shopify site but that will be closed very soon.. maybe closing it this weekend since my renew date is March 8 and the site currently isn't working anyway since there is no address pointing to it, LOL.

I know they always say up to like 72 hours for the domain switch to go live, however I've been on several sites over the years and most switch instantly so when I switched this time and 3 days later it's still not working I thought maybe I set it up wrong.. turns out it just needed a few more hours I guess cause it's now working.

Now the struggle is going to be actually working / promoting the new location.. I'm usually pretty consistent with that during slow times in the winter but during the nice spring / summer /fall days I like to be outside working the gardens / yard / in the shop or anything but actually working the sites etc. LOL

The time it takes depends on DNS caching. 72 hours is not unusual. Here is a DNS checker that checks various DNSs around the world. You are testing at 100% this morning. When you check your website, you only use the DNS your system is configured for. The checker tests a bunch of different DNSs around the world. Mine does not test at 100% today.

I was a Systems Administrator/Systems Programmer before I retired. I always figured it takes at least 48 hours for a change to propagate completely.

I have been using the Google DNS for many years.

In the past years I've been doing this.. for the most part, what I promote today sometimes doesn't even pay off until the holiday season.. Yes I do see a uptick in views and possibly a sale here and there from promoting.. but the big results always seem to be around the holidays. People see things and save / bookmark or remember seeing and probably think that'd make a great gift. Seems about 95% of my sales are gifts for someone else. Usually birthdays and Christmas. I've often thought about selling only ornaments.. I sell them year round, they take up very little inventory space so easy storage. I like smaller stuff for both inventory space and easy shipping. I don't have to have stacks of boxes of various sizes taking up space either. I mostly mail smaller stuff in bubble mailers..

I know this will sound strange, but I don't get the Christmas surge. So far, my biggest month has been in August. I'm promoting only Goimagine now and will do this for a while and see what happens. If it does not work, I'll cut it way back. It seems to be since my Goimagin views took a nose dive after Christmas and now the views are steadly increasing.

Yeah, every business is different.. when almost half my products are ornaments.. that probably explains "my Christmas" surge.

I have Google Analytics working on my Mosaic site. Goimagine analytics does not show traffic sources, so I needed this to determine if any of my promotions sent traffic to me.
