This will likely be my last post about Monarchs as I have likely bored people.   The fall migration is going on and people could be lucky to see a bunch of Monarchs settle in trees for the night. I was fortunate to see several years ago about 30 Monarchs settle into Pine trees one night in early fall.  It was awe inspiring.

We are busy now releasing Monarchs as 5 of the 24 have emerged from their chrysalis.  We have had 2 males and 3 females.  The rest well be emerging soon.

This is the male we released tonight.  You can tell by the black dot on the wing toward the back on either side of the abdomen.

I also learned something new about the chrysalis.

The gold colored spots are where the chrysalis gets oxygen.
