kmmcrafts Posted November 8, 2023 Report Posted November 8, 2023 While this is new it's kind of not. I guess the way it's set up is new.. and maybe the way it is now used is new.. But I have always ran a sale through the holidays or at least a portion of it. Etsy used to display a sale to the front page or to the top of a search was my understanding.. so with that said I have almost always run a sale through the holiday season. What has changed though is how they require you to run a certain amount of % off to get into the "special shown list" in search or on front page etc. Used to be it didn't matter you could run 5% off.. over the years they required 15% then jumped it to 20% for many years.. Now I see it's 25%... maybe it was 25% last year.. but anyway.. I price my items in order to be able to do 30% is my rock bottom limit. I'm not sure if free shipping qualifies or not as it also qualified for a couple of the years especially when they was pushing people to do free shipping. Anyway, thanks for sharing this.. it's something to keep in mind.. BadBob 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted December 3, 2023 Report Posted December 3, 2023 I ran a sale over the black friday and cyber monday and mostly till the end of the week.. and orders was somewhat normal.. since the ad is done I'm not hardly getting any orders.. so this might really be a thing.. I have not seen Etsy this slow in a very long time.. I've always had up and down weeks months and even years but nothing quite this slow unless I run ads I don't get much of anything for orders.. I've had only 4 orders all day today on etsy.. typically this time of year.. I'd be having 15 - 20 a day.. LOL I might get that 20 on Amazon for today.. getting really close to it and a few more hours left in the day yet. LOL Amazon is keeping me hoppin though so that's good.. I see on the Amazon sellers group though that many are saying it's dead on there as well.. thankfully I'm not experiencing that.. This has always kind of been the case for me through the years.. if one sight is slow it seems as though another one kinda picks up that slack... Quote
Scrappile Posted December 3, 2023 Report Posted December 3, 2023 Well maybe, just maybe it is related to the economy! Fixed Income here, everything keeps going up, necessaries, taxes.. what do you expect.. Buying to support any thing but the necessities, is getting beyond my means. Just handing on... kmmcrafts 1 Quote
rafairchild2 Posted December 3, 2023 Report Posted December 3, 2023 (edited) I disagree that everything is going up. My retirement investment portfolio has taken a big hit in the last two years it has gone DOWN a bit, thus putting off my retirement decision tree this year. That's a downer... The good news though, this week I found out my contract with NATO has been extended another 5 years. So I have 5 more years that I can keep adding to my portfolio, good medical, good environment. I'll be 67 by then. But I will go down the decision tree starting at the end of 2024, with the decision to work another year before asking the questions again or pulling the retirement trigger. kmmcrafts Posted December 3, 2023 Report Posted December 3, 2023 Yeah a lot of it is just the crappy inflation and things going on in the world.. as far as being slow.. all selling sites are slow.. My point was what is mention in the video about running sales on etsy.. It seems if you not running a sale they don't show your items to the customers.. I have never ever run a sale on Amazon.. in fact prices are higher there when you calculate shipping.. Yet I'm getting 80% more business than last year on Amazon.. while etsy is down 37% I don't think the issue is completely about the poor economy it's etsy's overloaded search, and the fact they are not showing shops that are not running sales.. BadBob Posted December 3, 2023 Author Report Posted December 3, 2023 I have had sales running on Etsy since November. They had no discernable effect. Sales and views are in a death spiral. For the year, the number of orders is down 16% from 2022; 2022 was down 20% compared to 2021, and 2021 was down 6%. This downward spiral started in February 2021. For two months this year, I have had a negative income. My retirement fund is slowly increasing number-wise until inflation is factored in. The inflation rate is much greater than the interest rate. The best interest rate I can get is 5%. With inflation at 13.5%, I am losing money there too. Anyone with half a brain knows what is causing this. kmmcrafts 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted December 4, 2023 Report Posted December 4, 2023 Well, this morning I just set up a small add for only a 10% off and today I've had several orders... coincidence? I don't know.. but normally weekends are flooded with shoppers.. today was busier the the whole weekend was.. Something to do with the deals tab on the etsy app? Maybe... maybe not.. just odd and makes me wonder.. Quote
BadBob Posted December 4, 2023 Author Report Posted December 4, 2023 I started a new sale today for 25% off of selected items. Nothing yet, but it has only been a few hours. Quote
