I just ordered this air brush. imyyds Airbrush Kit with Compressor, 32PSI High Pressure Cordless Airbrush Gun, Portable Dual Action. For those who use one, do you have any suggestions on which paints to buy and anything else I need to know. I'm a total novice in this area. Thanks much in advance.

Gene,

What are you trying to do with the airbrush?

Paint scroll saw items? Apply a stain/finish? Make airbrushed paintings?

The paint needs to be fairly thin, think craft paint thinned about 4x with water, maybe more. This means several coats of paint with drying time between. ( it's possible to wrap the airbrush up between painting, but it's a pain and if the paint dries out it's even more of a pain to do a "deep clean" ) Each color of paint means cleaning the airbrush between each color or having more than one airbrush. Multicolored airbrushing is normally accomplished by using masks to keep the paint only where you want it. If you were doing production work then you could paint one color on say 20 items, by the time you got all 20 painted you could start back on the first one to get multiple coats of paint in one go.

There are plenty of airbrush videos on YouTube, start with the ones on cleaning the airbrush, then on what paints to use.  There is too much to learn in using an airbrush to cover in short posts.  I am trying to learn to use one also, and that is the route I am following.

Tom

I received an airbrush 2 years ago.  Watched lots of videos.  Haven't used it in a year.  I deep cleaned it, bought new needles, thinned paint, didn't thin paint.  I can't seem to figure it out.  I would like an "in person" lesson as that is how I learn better. Can't seem to find those either.
