thomashale133 Posted December 25, 2024 Report Posted December 25, 2024 I've been scrollsawing for awhile and now I'm think I'm ready to make my own patterns what's the best program to use please help me thank you so much for your help OCtoolguy 1 Quote
ScrollerGuy Posted December 25, 2024 Report Posted December 25, 2024 (edited) If you haven't found them yet, GIMP and Inkscape are free to try. Instructive videos are here on Scroll Saw Village. The videos are geared towards portraits, but the programs can be used for other types of patterns. Good Luck! https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/village-university/ Edited to say the Inkscape video is geared more for general patterns. Both are useful programs. don in brooklin on Posted December 25, 2024 Report Posted December 25, 2024 The university here is great for Inkscape. I also signed up the lessons from https://logosbynick.com/ The courses are on sale right now. Great videos and Nick will answer your questions. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

JJB Posted December 26, 2024 Report Posted December 26, 2024 Yes, Inkscape is my go-to. Plus it's great for creating svg files that I can use on the laser engraver/ cutter. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BadBob Posted December 26, 2024 Report Posted December 26, 2024 It is rare for me to create a pattern, but when I do, I use Inkscape and occasionally Gimp. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
