Popular Post Dan Posted February 12 Popular Post Report Posted February 12 Woke up to 2" of snow. I love seeing the woodpeckers, cardinals, and bluebird contrast in the snow. Our big maple is also alive with juncos, titmouses, and Carolina chickadees. TAIrving, Wichman, barb.j.enders and 7 others 8 1 1 Quote

barb.j.enders Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 No snow for awhile. It doesn't like the cold either. Extreme cold warnings for the week. wombatie and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 We hardly had any snow as it warmed up and melted most of what I had. Was down to seeing mostly grass with a few shaded spots where the snow hadn’t melted yet. woke up to maybe 5-6 inches this morning and then this evening they’re saying some lake effect snow might kick in. Then tomorrow night into Saturday another storm coming to add another 6-8” followed by more lake effect every day through the next week as it’s supposed to get colder with high temps maybe around 10F Wife bought this bigger bird feeder that is just like the other but other was small and needed refill almost daily. This one last a week + but fills the bottom with snow and covers the feed up. The birds won’t clean it out so every morning I have to go clean off the snow so they can access the feed. Maybe they just have me wrapped around their feet. Anyway they’ll just fight over the suit feeder until I go knock off the snow and usually shake some out onto the ground. Funny they’ll eat it off the snowy ground but not out of the snowy feeder. spoiled birds! OCtoolguy, danny and barb.j.enders 3 Quote

We have a cage-type feeder that keeps the starlings and squirrels out but those dang birds will still scour the ground to anything kicked out by the other birds. They are one of the three birds in Ohio that we are allowed to send to bird heaven prematurely. Quote

My oldest son at the time was really into pew pews and enjoyed using those for target / hunting practices.. I think maybe he has wiped out the whole county of them, LOL.. I do still see them but they haven't been nearly as bad as they was years ago. I live in a pretty rural area and pretty odd to me but we don't see many squirrels. I had chased one off a few times and maybe scared it.. I see it running around several yards away in the field etc.. but never really see it or any tracks of it around my yard. I've had issues with the deer trying to get at the food in the feeder a few times.. This photo was taken just a couple days ago.. this is only about 15ft from my front door and probably only about 20ft from my bird feeders. They actually walk all around and across my front porch.. danny and wombatie 1 1 Quote
