BadBob Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 There was a post here titled "Looking For A Supplier." I responded to the email address that they supplied. I exchanged several emails with them and did a considerable amount of research to answer their questions. As this process continued, it became clear that what they wanted was someone to work for free, but they did not come straight out and say that. When they insisted that I make a sample set for them and ship it to the UK, I gave them a price to pay in advance. It has been more than a week, and I have not received a response. Today, I discovered that the post on the forum was gone. So I guess they either found someone local to do the work or are looking elsewhere. Here is their website if you are curious. kmmcrafts Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 (edited) There may be a few legit real people in these non-profit organizations that's "willing to pay" but my experience has been they're looking for Charity or free stuff which is why I never replied to them as I seen the topic about 15 minutes after they posted it here.. I think this same organization was one of the many that had messaged me on Etsy a few years ago.. Many times they can find someone retired and willing to do some charity type work.. I have yet had one that really meant they're a "paying" customer so I just skip past these type messages on etsy and mark as spam.. By no means am I saying I never do charity fundraising etc.. but I "only will for Local communities in my area" Heard many complaints on etsy forums and other seller forums over the years of how they donated and then they seen their donations on eBay or somewhere for sale, LOL.. My charities will stay in my community where I know the folks or at least can attend and see the item being given or auctioned etc.. Most these charities have a local person they know that can make or donate.. no reason to take to the internet and spam sellers on etsy etc. looking for donations.. If they do this I feel it's a scam.. everyone knows someone retired or otherwise willing to donate a couple hours of their time without having to reach out to people in other countries or states etc. Edit: The post is still here on the forum Bob.. It was in the "deals" section of the forum not in the business section.. Here is the link. Edited March 10 by kmmcrafts Quote
BadBob Posted March 11 Author Report Posted March 11 The forum search could not find it. I should have used Google to search. Forum searches never work well. They are not a charity. They sell these things, although they may qualify as a nonprofit in the UK. They are quite proud of them. The group of figures in their post sells for about $90 US. I don't work for free. I have been ripped off so many times by so-called charities that now I only donate to things where all of it goes directly to the place they are collecting the money for.
