wdkits1 Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 Hi Everyone Been awhile since I've had any scrolling to show , but thought you all might like to see one of the projects that I recently completed. This was a commissioned job done for a client here in Midlothian,VA. Keith has been working on his home pub and needed some custom tap handles made that would have his logo included on the handles. I invited Keith to see my Intarsia work and we decided to create the logo using intarsia. Talk about a challenge!!!. The logo is 3" in diameter which when scaled out means the letters are less than 1/4" tall. Now I've cut plenty of small pieces before but to actually inlay a 1/4" letter into a background is pretty tedious. Anyways here is a pic of the prototype logo. Each logo consists of 40 pieces from 10 different woods. That little black spec is the letter"E" I also turned the tap handles from mahogany and attached them to the top with a dowel and epoxy. Finished Tap handle I also created the tower for the set-up from mahogany. So here is the completed Tap handle and tower set-up after installation in Keith's pub. Keith did a great job on the pub set-up and brews some great tasting beer. This was a fun project IsabelMarantbootsng 1 Quote
Travis Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Wow. That looks like an amazing project. Love the tap handles. Cutting those letters would make me crosseyed. How the beer is labeled is pretty clever too. Nicely done. Hopefully he'll give you a key to his home pub. Quote
