Pegas 21 Inch Arm Adjustment Assy Problems

Godd morning,

I was wondering is anyone on this site has ever had to  replace ot tighten the 90.750-A58 Assy (Pegas 21 Inch Arm Adjustment Assy) located on the back of the arm?

I am currently having problems with the arm adjustment assembly as the assembly (not the knob) is loose and vibrates, whch is causing my blade tension to change as I am cutting. I have not been able to locate anything online except AI generated instructions on how to replace the assembly and they is not very clear and I am unsure of the validity of the instructions.

Currently I am using a rubber band to help stabilize the assembly, but it is not a very reliable solution. 

Any assistance or videos that are out there would be greatly appreciated.

I did a repair on mine and took a few pictures of the process.. I can't find the topic to share it though but I know I posted here about the repair. I didn't replace any parts on mine like was suggested. I took it apart and just added blue thread locker to the threads on the threaded rod and it kept it from turning / adjusting on it's own. I did this several years ago and still going strong. This was on a Excalibur 21" saw.. ( basically the same saw and set-up ).. Maybe someone else has better luck finding my topic on here than I do and will share it. Meanwhile I'll try again later when I have more time.

 

Well I found this topic but I don't think this is the one I was thinking of but there is some info here.

Thanks for the great info. Did you access the screw from the rear of the arm? or from the front? It looks like from the front. It looks like on my Pegas, I can only access it from the rear. I may try to open it today and see if it is something as simple as tightening a screw or adding locktite. Just hoping when I open the back of the arm there are no surprises with regard to putting it back on.

Hmm, I'm not sure where I accessed the screw from as that was a long time ago. I remember it all going fairly easy but one part was a bit of a struggle and that was putting the washer and nut back on the rod as it's too tight of a fit to get your fingers back in there to get them threaded back on. I think I used some long needle nose plyers to get them started. 

Honestly you probably don't need to take it completely apart like I did if you're just going to try thread lock on it. I would take note of where the threads enter the square block and then turn it whichever way you need to access those threads and maybe get some thread lock on a brush? or ad s piece of small hose to the thread lock bottle in order to reach it down in there to the threads and then thread it back down close to the position you need to have the arm paralleled to the table so the thread lock gets down into that threaded block. I think with some tinkering around you probably can get the thread lock in there without taking it completely apart.

Thanks, I will be opening it up to take a look and will take some pics.  Hopefully it may help someone else that may be having similar issues.

I did receive a response from the Pegas repairman.  This is the quote.  Sometimes dirt and grime get in the threads, I have had a few customers complain about this, if you loosen the set screw on the knob, remove it and clean the threads, then reinstall everything back it should hold. There was only one customer that needed to use thread lock on his but that was an old machine and he didn't want to attempt to do any of my suggestions.
