    I wound up buying the longer orange hose as well, I didn't care for the bulky hose that came with the vac. Do you have adapters for your that you can easily plug and unplug the hose from the ports?

    If I could chime in on this topic and shift gears a little bit, I would like to ask about adapters for other equipment. I have a 12 gallon Rigid Wet/Dry Vac with a 2 1/2 inch end on my hose. This end fits perfectly on my Pegas scroll saw. The problem is the variety of port sizes for my other equipment (band saw, sanders, jointer, etc) that range from 1 3/4 inches to 4 inches. Can anyone recommend an adapter set that has a wide variety of sizes? Currently, I spend about 15 - 20 minutes cleaning up and I would like that time to be applied to other things. TIA, Bob

    Does this cleaning method work for the coated table tops such as the Pegas?

    I have ordered from them several times without any issues and are now the only folks I use. Their wood quality is as good or better than the competitors. Another huge advantage of using them is how quick they get the wood to you. With other companies, I have had to wait several weeks. Ocooch is shipped out within a few days. They periodically have some pretty good sales and they give 10% veteran discounts.

    From what I’ve read gun stock oil needs to be tru-oil to be suitable for using as a varnish. I’ve used it on a few projects and it seems to work but I’m hoping someone can give some pros and cons regarding tru-oil on scroll saw projects. Thanks

    Thanks. I’ve been searching for them and the only free pattern for a miniature birdhouse is one that I’ve found is on Steve Goods website which is pretty good. After making a couple of them I’m getting the fever and want a little more variety so I ordered the Winfield collection from online.

    Finishing is probably my weakest point when it comes to completing a project. Recently I started using gun stock tru oil and it seems to work fine as it dries quickly and doesn’t smell. Does anyone else use it? If so, what are the pros and cons of using tru oil? Thanks in advance.

    You have mentioned the Winfield Collection in previous comments in Scroll Saw Village. I saw that these are not provided in pdf format, so if you don’t mind me asking, when you got the patterns, were they sent as individual patterns that could easily be copied for multiple uses or were they in a book?

    Welcome from Georgia. I started scrolling several years ago when my neighbor gave me an old Dremel 13. I am now using a Pegas 21 and feel like I am learning something new every time I turn it on. It's a great hobby for retirement.

    Thanks for the tip about using a steel ruler. I would normally just trust my ability to perfectly fold on the dotted line prior to spraying on the glue. I have a steel ruler right beside my saw, it never registered. Luckily the chess pieces I am making are solid and no internal cuts. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

    I’m new to the compound scrolling and am working on a chess set. So far I’ve cut a few pieces that I’m happy with. The issue is that I’m putting a lot of time and effort into making sure that the dotted line (crease) is exactly lined with the edge of the block. Sometimes if it’s not exactly lined up, I try to move the pattern around until it is perfect or wind up replacing the pattern and try again. I am sure that there are some of you ol’ salts out there that can let me know if there is a tolerance on how close the crease has to be on the edge or an easier way to line them up. I have this huge fear that if it is not perfectly lined up on my pieces of wood, they will turn out looking like mutants. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. TIA Bob

    Thank you so much for posting this. I started working on a chess set a couple of weeks ago and am getting discouraged for the same reason. I am using a Pegas #5 MGT (small blades for the sharp turns) and moving very slow, but going through 4 - 5 blades per piece. I will give a #7 super skip and see how that works. I am trying to keep the blade as small as possible. My fear is that a #9 would be too large for the sharper cuts. I have only done a small amount compound scrolling and am very determined to create my own chess set.

    Great idea! I think combining yours and Jerry Walters idea (the foot stool instead of the floor) may just do the trick.

    Using a foot pedal ensures that you never lose control of your project. If you're working on something with a lot of fret, it best to keep both hands on it while the saw is running to prevent any slippage.

    That's what I did with the Dewalt stand, the Pegas stand is not designed to be able to do it that I can tell.

    When I used my Dewalt, the Dewalt stand had a shelf that was perfect for mounting a foot pedal. I was able to drill holes in the wood to fit the pedal, then was able to use zip ties and a clamp to secure the pedal. A few months ago I purchased a Pegas and Pegas stand. I have to set my foot pedal and wooden mount on the floor. The problem is that it will not stay still and sometimes becomes awkward to use. Any suggestions on securing a foot pedal that is on the floor. Thanks in advance.

    I agree that the tension should rarely, if ever, need to be adjusted. My Pegas is brand new and I have read that everything is set so it should work correctly out of the box. Mine was not, which was actually beneficial because with all of the input on this post, I actually learned something for a change.

    The knob sets the tension and the lever applies the tension set after a blade change.

    Sorry, I should have clarified, the tension was not correct for the position of the blade. You are correct. The Pegas does have a tension adjustment in the back of the saw

    This was the first time I’ve heard that as well and he was right on the money.
