loftyhermes Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 Hi everyone, I'm hoping that one of the pattern makers can turn this photo of Amy's horse into a pattern for me, if it's possible. I've tried to have a go myself but my computer is to old and slow (a bit like me really), it keeps freezing up whilst I'm trying to do it, so before the sledge hammer comes out I thought I'd ask for help. many thanks happy scrolling Steve Quote
lawson56 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Steve I gave it several tries myself,I was unable to come up with a descent pattern,to many shadows.Black Horse looking at you not much to go on.I am sorry. Quote
loftyhermes Posted September 22, 2013 Author Report Posted September 22, 2013 lawson, many thanks for trying. happy scrolling Steve Quote
Tutor Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I have one in the works, it has a good bit of black but we'll see what the final pat looks like later today, being new to this site, how detailed do ya cut Steve? Tutor Quote
Birchbark Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 @ Tutor, ha that's always the problem when making these patterns. If you go to a lot of trouble and put lots of detail in they wanted just four cuts, if you make a pattern with just four cuts, they needed more detail! lol Welcome and thanks for taking the time to attempt a pattern. loftyhermes Posted September 22, 2013 Author Report Posted September 22, 2013 Hi tutor, now that's something i'd not given any thought to, i thought that if anyone could make a pattern then I would cut what was given to me. I would say that I have not cut anything as detailed as say Charles Dearing patterns, having said that it's about time my skills were tested and would give my best to do any pattern justice. And I thank you for attemping the pattern. happy scrolling Steve Quote
Birchbark Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 (edited) hello Steve, here's my attempt at Amys horse. Like others have said, it's a tough picture to do much with, maybe someone will come up with a better one for you. And as always this pattern wasn't meant to be followed exactly, use your best judgement and artistic ability and make it your own. Russell Edited September 22, 2013 by Birchbark Quote
penquin Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Great looking pattern of a difficult photo. Can't wait to see the cutting. jim penquin Quote
Tutor Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Here is another attempt, had a hard time with the face being black and was going with the rest of the horse going black also, then went with what I came up with... sorry. As a sidenote I've just started using Inkscape to smooth out lines from my photoshop pats, so I hope there isn't any floaters. Tutor Quote
frankorona Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Both patterns are excellent, thanks for your help . Quote
loftyhermes Posted September 23, 2013 Author Report Posted September 23, 2013 Russell and Tutor, wow what can I say you both done great with a difficult photo, they are both great patterns, hard to choose so I think I might cut both. I'll print them up and see, so I may be gone for some time. thank you very much for your efforts. happy scrolling Steve Quote
amazingkevin Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Looks like the club went all out for you! What a gathering and meetings of the minds here for the infamous Amys horse! No horse feathers about it you got more than you bargained for lol. Quote
loftyhermes Posted September 24, 2013 Author Report Posted September 24, 2013 Russell, I've cut your pattern, see bragging rights, Tutor, I'll cut your pattern as soon as I get some spiral blades. happy scrolling Steve Quote
Birchbark Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Thank you Steve the best way to say thanks for the pattern is to post a picture of the completed cut. Glad you could use it Russell Quote
