  1. Paul, I think that Brimarc were the distributors for Jet but I've heard that now it's Axminster, you could try them but being as it's an Excalibur clone maybe parts from Axminster saws will fit your Jet.
  2. I've cut 1/8" aluminium, brass and steel with ordinary Niqua non reverse tooth blades. They wear out quicker cutting the aluminium and brass than with cutting wood but cutting the steel they wore out at an exceptional rate. It's a good job I have a load of them that are at least 20 years old (bought at the same time as my saw) and just needed to use them up.
  3. Could be Calligrapher font.
  4. The grommet came out of my 560, I've not replaced it and still use it. I think it's purpose is to stop the blade tensioner rattling when there's no tension.
  5. A block of wood, holes drilled in to take old Steradent tubes. The arrow at the corner is the bade being used.
  6. Brenda, If the pin is a solid steel one then you could try putting a spring roll pin in. My Delta has them and they don't come out, in fact they take some getting out when needed to be removed. You can get all sizes from most suppliers even Aldi and Lidl have packs of them in now and again and cost pennies, I'm sure if you measured the length and diameter of the original pin you'll find one to fit. Steve
  7. Nice cutting Brenda, did you use a smaller blade for it?
  8. Brenda, yes Niqua give their blade types names, such as Pebeco are standard non reverse teeth, Speed are reverse tooth blades etc. I now mainly use the Speed blades unless I'm cutting something that doesn't warrant the reverse cut, ie. compound cutting, or metal and plastics. A 2012 Niqua catalogue in PDF form you can have a look at. Niqua_Katalog_Holzlaubsaegen.pdf
  9. Brenda, if you want to stick with Niqua and buy in the UK then try Original Marquetry, http://www.originalmarquetry.co.uk/category_Fret_Saw_Blades_1.htm they have a wide range but postage could be expensive. or HegnerUK, https://www.hegner.co.uk/products/spares-accessories/scrollsaw-bla or Hobbies sell 2/0 blades but are out of sock in the gross bundle. https://www.hobbies.co.uk/tools/power-tools/yellow-label-fretsaw-b I have used all 3 but have settled with HegnerUK for the time being. If you don't mind buying from the USA then Mikes Workshop, they're called Flying Dutchman blades but are in fact Niqua blades renamed by Mike Moorlach for the American market. https://mikesworkshop.com/collections/blades
  10. Brenda, the large blade size does have something to do with the breakout as does the drill bit. When drilling holes, especially when they are close together, I always use a 1mm bit and make sure it's sharp, light pressure when drilling and that the ply is hard down on a piece of sacrificial piece of wood, also when I cut a single piece of 1/8th BB ply I usually use a 2/0 or a No.1 blade, nothing larger.
  11. Brenda, I always dip and return what's left to the tin, never had a problem with it going off prematurely even after months of not using it. What size tin are you using Brenda? I currently use Wilko's Danish Oil in 1litre tins at £11. Screwfix have half litre tins at £5.59
  12. When my blower packed in on my saw, I used a dogs squeaky toy (with the squeak removed) stuck the pipe into the hole and fastened it under the bottom arm. If you do this and it's your dog's toy, don't let the dog see you do it, it'll be all over the workshop and bench like a rash. Don't ask why I know this.
  13. Hi Rob welcome, I'm just a bit further down the A1 near Mansfield. Enjoy your stay and as Brenda said, it's full of lovely friendly extremely knowledgeable people that will answer any question you have, no matter how silly you think it is and remember we were all beginners once.
  14. Brett, The big stop button is also a NVR (No Volts Release) switch.
  15. Well done Brenda. Are you going to oil this one?
  16. Brenda, As your machine is a Hegner clone would not a Hegner bush fit? They have one on their site for less than £10. https://www.hegner.co.uk/spare-part-finder?machine=HM2s&version=1&query=8&search.x=8&search.y=13&search_start=true Might be worth a try for less than a tenner.
  17. Asking for the best saw will get answers based on personal experiences. A Hegner owner will say they are the best (I personally don't like them.) Pegas owners will say they are the best, ask me and I will answer an old Delta 40-540 or 40-560 and on it goes. Look what's available where you live and the electrics will be OK, Europe uses nominal 230 V electric supply it's the plugs and sockets that vary. Good luck in your search.
  18. I use one of these chairs, my daughter bought it off the internet several years ago. The best present ever for the shed.
  19. I have a few permanent patterns mostly made out of modern furniture drawer bottoms and cupboard backs. It's mostly 1/8" mdf or ply. I glue the paper pattern to it then fix it to the wood, generally with pins and cut it then I have my template ready for next time.
  20. Brenda, have you tried re-positioning spray glue, it saves having to mess about with mineral spirits. I use the purple can one from Crafters Companion. Peels off easily and the residue (if any) comes off with the sanding. Never had a problem using it. https://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/crafter-s-companion-stick-and-spray-mounting-adhesive-purple-can.html
  21. When I get some blades I will give it a go. The main problem with turning up the speed when cutting metal will be the heat generated destroying the blades so the speed might have to be kept low but I'll certainly give it a go sometime.
  22. Almost any scroll saw will cut metal with the right blades.
  23. Same here, I wonder if Tony is my long lost brother.
