  1. Brenda, Amazon UK have one but it's £31. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scroll-Saw-Castles-Make-Collapsible/dp/156523135X
  2. There's a guy in Derbyshire makes vanishing castles on a bandsaw similar to those, also Blooming clever boxes and has been for quite a while. Ray Sylvester is his name and his website is here. http://www.temima.co.uk
  3. He wasn't Ray, one thing I will say to anyone who does this is, don't let the dog see where you put it's squeaky, else it will come into the shed and just sit there looking at the saw.
  4. I started selling when the wife said "it's about time you got rid of some of these boxes out of the living room." So that was 6 years ago and instead of getting rid of some, when it sold I'd just go and make more. After 6 years the pile of boxes hasn't got smaller, just has a better quality stuff inside.
  5. When the blower packed up on my Delta, I used a dogs squeaky toy (with the squeak removed) glued under the bottom arm, the pipe was just pushed into the hole left by the squeaker.
  6. Brenda, You could try using a finer toothed blade, I normally cut with a no.3 or 5 blade but cutting 1/8" I would use a 2/0 or if I had any a no.1 blade, it makes the cut slower.
  7. Neal, mine are type 2.
  8. Yes, the actual clamp is the same as the 40-560 type 2, the tensioning system is different.
  9. Deltas quickset blade clamps are the best ever, my 40-560 is 25 years old and still going strong. I've bought 3 more "just in case" I need spares. Though I have just sold one to a friend who just started scrolling. The trick is that they don't need to be as tight as you think to hold the blade, too tight just bends the little lever or breaks it.
  10. Thank you Brenda, I've bookmarked her blog and subscribed to her youtube channel.
  11. That's a cracking piece of work. Who is this wonderful lady Brenda?
  12. svg files work in Inkscape.
  13. Yes it's all down to quality control, I have a 25 year old Delta 40-560 that was made in Taiwan and it's still going strong.
  14. As John says it can only be done with laser printers but there are different ways, one is you can also use an iron on the pattern on but don't use the one the wife uses. Another is to print onto non absorbing material like the backing sheet for labels and carefully place it on the wood. Steve Ramsey has a video on this method. With all these it must be remembered to reverse the pattern before doing it.
  15. I think I got those scrollsaw fonts from the old Free For All forum, if I'm remembering the name right.
  16. Without going to the shed and from memory I did this puzzle in Baltic Birch using Danish Oil and Colron coloured Danish Oil (Jacobean Dark Oak) for the dark pieces
  17. I have two, an old Racal full face air fed mask and a Sundstrom mask but to honest it's not very often I use either, by the time I've thought about putting one on I finished cutting.
  18. Hi Brenda, your questions have been answered but I'll give you mine. 1, I give my table a rub with 400 wet and dry sandpaper then use Chestnuts Woodwax 22 and buff up. Don't use anything with Silicone in it, it'll play havoc with finishes 2, I always pour my Danish Oil back into the tin, leaving it in the container will do that. Having said that by the time I've nearly used up a 500ml tin it also is starting to thicken, the thinners have been evaporating every time I open the tin. 3, Once you've set the tension with the back knob leave it alone and just use the lever at the front, that's what it's for and why it's called a quick tensioner.
  19. As well as the apostrophe there's the dot on the i that need joining as well. Some thing like this.
  20. My two most used fonts are Cooper Black for stand up letters and when I need to cut out of the piece I use Scroll Beach Italic.
  21. I dip most of my work in Danish Oil, dip it let it drain a while then wipe off the excess and let dry, the only stuff I don't finish is if it's in contact with food or heat, I leave that up to the customer to put on a finish if they want.
  22. Very nice, you need one for yourself now.
  23. No, I'm not getting treatment, I'm always looking for more saws. Oh and that reminds me I've also got two of those little Spiralux electro magnetic type saws as well, now I'm up to 14.
  24. I've had a Delta 40-560 type 2 for 25 years and now have 2, 40-560 and 2, 40-540 bought as spares but are complete and usable. I also have 2 Hobbies A1 treadles saws and 6 hand frames, so technically I have 12 saws.
  25. Brenda, The ply and blade choice are fine, that to me looks like you've been unintentionally applying sideways pressure to the work piece making the blade flex, hence the narrower cut underneath. As Jim says slow down and let the blade do its job, a little more tension might help. Looks like you nearly lost some from around the eye as well.
