  3. Ray, that image measures 2 1/2" wide and 4" tall. The wood will need to be 1 1/2" x 3/4" Steve
  4. Cropped in Coreldraw.
  5. I do the same as Roly and use a snipping tool (Jing) and then import to Inkscape. happy scrolling Steve
  6. My daughter bought me this chair many years ago, one of the best, if not the best thing ever for me when scrolling.
  7. I believe that Record Power here in the UK used to sell rebadged Hawks when they first ventured into the scrollsaw market.
  8. Empty Steradent tubes cost nothing. happy scrolling Steve
  9. I collected old Steradent tubes, drilled holes in a block of wood, marked one corner hole and that's the blade in use. happy scrolling Steve
  10. A 14" bandsaw and thicknesser for ripping down wood.
  11. Well I must the lucky one because in all the years I've been scrolling I've never had a problem attaching the pattern to the wood and it staying put. All I use is repositionable spray glue applied to the paper and then stuck to the wood, which is always sanded to 240 grit. Sometimes on thick wood I'll cover with clear packing tape, only to prevent the blade burning the cut. happy scrolling Steve
  12. For cut out text like the OP's picture my favourite font is Scroll Beach Italic. For stand up words it's Cooper Black. happy scrolling Steve
  13. Niqua make one called Top Cut which is the same as FDUR (not surprising since they make FD blades) but without the little kink. Olson make one called Crown Cut which has every other tooth reversed. happy scrolling Steve
  14. I've always thought of it as, fretwork for the inside cuts ie. where the blade is inserted into a hole and scrollwork for the outside cuts, ie. cuts that can be done without inserting the blade into a hole. happy scrolling Steve
  15. I've cut roofing slate with ordinary blades, admittedly blunted quicker but not by much. happy scrolling Steve
  16. My solution to this problem was to get a dogs squeaky toy, remove the squeaker and put the pipe in the hole, then glue the squeaker under the bottom arm.
  17. This topic has come up on forums over here in the UK and the same opinions came up. I think that I must be very lucky with my technique because I've never had a problem with using re-positionable spray glue on my patterns. I sand the wood with 120 grit then spray the back of the pattern with the glue, give the wood a wipe down with a cloth, stick the pattern down. If it's thick wood or I think it'll burn the cutting then I'll apply clear packing tape after drilling the holes then poke the holes with a bradawl. After cutting, the pattern just comes off, then a quick sand with 240 grit and then finish, usually with Danish Oil. I have found that using 100gsm instead of the run of the mill 80gsm paper also helps. happy scrolling Steve
  18. Very nice, I like the idea of different woods for the front and back. happy scrolling Steve

  21. They do ship to the UK, or they did before they moved. I've had a couple of orders from them. If you order from them tell them, no catalogue it'll be quicker and cheaper, this I found out after my first order.. happy scrolling Steve
  22. I've bought Olson blades from Wooden Teddy Bear and they did workout cheaper than Woodworks inc. postage, if you do decide to order tell them no catalogue, it's cheaper and quicker. happy scrolling Steve
  23. Could you not get one of those small quick release skewers that are used on push bikes and just get a square nut fit the hole? The quick release will be a standard thread, over here in UK it'll be metric.
