  1. You could try the same blade as you cut the 1/4", or I would use either a No.3 or 5.
  2. Forstner bits do not need a pilot hole, always drill with a pillar drill and make sure the table is square to the bit and the wood is held securely..
  3. Most of my work of this nature has a black backer but it's up to you whether you have a backer and what colour to use. I do like the red though.
  4. I always drill all the holes first.
  5. Well done Brenda, I think the change of font helped a little as well.
  6. Yes, put simply, smaller no. blade = finer teeth = smoother cutting. You could try 2/0 blades if you have them.
  7. I'd cut that out of 1/4" Birch ply with a No 1 or 3 blade. Looking at the pattern you'll need to put bridges in the D.
  8. My go to stencil type font is Scroll Beach Italic.
  9. I would say a good epoxy glue, something like the West System.
  10. Ray, I think you've got it. Like I said earlier on in this thread, if you want to use a foot switch the NVR (magnetic) switch needs bypassing or replacing with an ordinary toggle switch.
  11. Yes Ray, that's what I mean. When you say magnetic switch to me it means a switch that has a magnetic back that allows it to be put anywhere on the machine. Oh isn't the English language great, depending on where you live determines what something is called. Parliament or a visit to the courts, some Judges and barristers still wear wigs.
  12. It's not really a problem with the power grid, it's that all our machines are fitted with NVR (no volt release) switches and to use a foot switch as intended this needs bypassing. And not a powdered wig in sight.
  13. I find it simple, with the pattern in Inkscape, go to path and click on trace bitmap, then with the trace selected, left click on the fill colour of your choice, then right click on the colour you want the lines and select set stroke.
  14. What I do is, load a pattern in Inkscape, trace it then set the stroke to red and fill to either white or light grey.
  15. You can get labels that are repositionable, they should come off easily.
  16. That's the problem with having NVR switches fitted to scrollsaws, to use a foot switch the NVR needs bypassing.
  17. Same as mine, 4 x 2 must be the golden angle.
  18. Ooooo, I want a pink one now.
  19. There's no stopping you now.
  20. I do one project at a time, easier that way, saves confusing myself or forgetting to do something on one till it's too late. DAMHIKT
  21. The Pegus scroll bandsaw looks good. Will be excellent for box makers. https://www.cremonatools.com/pegas-scroll-band-saw-6448.html
  22. Loads more room for sawdust and off cuts.
  23. Well done Brenda.
  24. Brenda, pages 18, 19 and 20 of the manual https://www.axminster.co.uk/media/downloads/501201_manual.pdf cover blade changing. I've not used your saw so can't offer any more advice than that. UKworkshop is about the best UK forum. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/index.php
  25. I think bad batches in blades are common and not manufacturer specific, here in the UK a while ago a lot folks were complaining about FD blades breaking.
