Michael for a first project doing Intarsia you did a really good job on it. Your cuts look real good from the front but you may want to check that your blade is square to the table. That may account for your gaps in the back. Overall though you did a beautiful job on your first attempt, keep up the great work.

If you don't mind a little suggestion, if I had done that particular project, I probably would have raised the leaves with an 1/8" shim and then

raised the rose with a 1/4" shim giving the over-all project 3 levels. Of course, rather than shims, different thicknesses of wood could be used

for the same effect.

I do not mean that to sound like criticism because your project is fine as you did it. I just like to visualize areas that I would like to

add dimension to when I do intarsia patterns.

Yours is fine and, again, you did a great job!

lilmike that's the most beautiful wooden cross I've ever seen!These will be a money maker for you at a craft show i'm sure of it.As far as gaps and such the customer doesn't know .I'd love to own that one you made.terrific job sir. :) you are now an intarsist!

My blade was a bit off square so I fixed it and now gonna cut another one of these out.
