trailfndr Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Wife asked me to make this one as a gift for her Sister. Her beloved Schanuzer passed on this past year. Pattern by Bruce Worthington. Used Aspen, Walnut, and Cherry About 9 x 8 inches I had to use stains to get the colors, and unfortunately, I doubt I will ever use Rustoleum brand Stains ever again, as I was not very pleased about how the color took to the wood. amazingkevin 1 Quote
amazingkevin Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Very good looking intarsia . A picture of the dog wood help in us seeing the problem your having .Quality done job here and in detail.9x8 is pretty small for getting the detail out you did. It's a miracle how you did the tiny eyes. It's the thought that counts with the wife. Quote

Bishop Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 This is a beautiful piece, Very well done and I'm sure your sister-in-law will be very pleased. You did a great job. Try food color if you need to stain another project. You can mix almost any color you want and thin it to make it lighter by adding water. Always try the color on a piece of scrap and let it dry to get the true color. You can even seal it to make sure it's what you want. Food color does not hide the grain and in most cases really enhances it. Great job Thanks God Bless Homer & Carol amazingkevin 1 Quote
