Sparkey Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 I am cutting some 3/4" hardwoods and am using a Olson 5R blade. It seems like it got dull very fast. Am I better off with a more coarse tooth blade? Would I be better off with a fast or medium blade speed? Thanks for your help. Quote
spirithorse Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 Greetings! I think if you use skip tooth blades (the number 5 is fine), the skip tooth allows more time for the blade to clear the saw dust from the kerf which helps reduce head, extend blade life, and cuts well in 3/4" material. Good luck and God Bless! Spirithorse amazingkevin 1 Quote

Jim Finn Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 I cut 3/4" hardwood a lot doing inlay and use FD Polar #5 blades. #7 also work fine. Quote
Sparkey Posted December 20, 2013 Author Report Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks Jim. I think I will order a few dozen different blades from Mike to try. I bought a dozen Olson #5 skip tooth. I turned the speed on the saw way down and they cut nice and lasted pretty good. I started my first intarsia and cut the three flowers out and was very happy with the cuts and how well all the pieces fit back together. Quote
Clayton717 Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 I use flying dutchman reverse tooth blades for my 3/4" hardwood. Mostly #7, sometimes a #5 Quote
