wombatie Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 We have had 4 days in a row of between 40 and 45 degree Celsius. Thats between 102 and 112 F roughly. We have set a record apparently. So I have hardly been out side since 10.30 Tuesday morning. Too darn hot to go into my metal garage to work thats for sure. We have 21 fires in a 40 kilometer radius from me at the moment and 3 within a 3 klms of me . We have strong winds too that are not helping the firefighters. Hopefully the cool change that has been forecast will arrive early to help the firefighters, you have to feel for those guys in these conditions. Marg bobscroll 1 Quote
Nick@tinkers-cove Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Hope things improve soon, Marg. Keep yourself and the family safe. Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Blimey Marg you could do with some of that white stuff from over the pond, It easier to keep warm than it is to keep cool, unless you have a good aircon system. Don't do to much stay cool and drink lots of fluids. Roly Quote
Ron Johnson Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Good morning Marg That is very scary when the fires are that close to your home. What you need is a lot of rain and calm winds. My sister in law was wiped out by fire a few years ago. It destroyed her business and almost wiped out a town ( Slave Lake, Alta) near by. She received no relieve from the insurance company or Govt. Many people at that time lost their homes and lively hood. The good thing no lives were lost. Strange weather this year through out the whole world. Take care and hopefully those fire fighters prayers are answered. Quote
ChelCass Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Oh my, stay safe Marg. Keep us posted on how things are going. Hopefully some rain will come your way and help put out the fires. Quote
keefie Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Stay safe Marg, hopefully you'll get some rain soon to dampen things down Quote
browders Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 This is a funny year for weather. I see where Southern California is already into their fire season. I hope you get some relief soon Marge. Jim Quote
wombatie Posted January 18, 2014 Author Report Posted January 18, 2014 Well the temperature droped dramatically but no rain. Local fires are now out thank goodness. However there were severe bush fires in The Grampians and lots of houses lost but thankfully only one life lost, not fire related. Please say a prayer of thanks for all of our CFA firefighters who are all volunteers. They are our heros. Marg Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
