Ken O Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 One of the guys at the last race asked me to finish a boat for him. He had all the frames glued but wasn't confident enough to glue the skins on. He asked me to finish it for him. It's getting there. I think it's going to be the 1985 "Miss Rock KISW" Lucky2 1 Quote

Ken O Posted February 4, 2014 Author Report Posted February 4, 2014 I can't put too much effort into this one since I have to race against it! Can't make it faster than mine! Quote
LarryEA Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 How much miracle grow did you use? Will it go slow enough to troll for fish? You can never have too many clamps. Looks like your guy picked the right person to finish it for him. Larry Quote
rjR Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 First the serious=== VERY NICE! Now the stuff like the rest of these guys are so good at! B.S. That must be a trukey to load on to the trailer!' Where do you find that crooked of BOAT-ramp Is the boat faster than the tow vehicle? Do you cheat and do a very very thick slippery wax on the bottom to make it faster?? The decades ago " Mobil fuel economy run vehicles used to get fantastic waxing;; because it made a difference on economy! If it changed the drag on air it probably changes it in water too; so my question on that is serious. Quote
Ken O Posted February 4, 2014 Author Report Posted February 4, 2014 HAha! This is just a model, but if I had enough miracle grow to get them full sized then I would have done it already for sure! Larry, if you could get a fish to bite at 60+ mph then you could have it skinned and gutted by the time you got back to shore! rjR, yes they rival the tow vehicle in speed, using just a modified weedwhacker engine, 55-65 mph. (I have one that does an easy 70) We actually scuff up the bottoms a little with 300-500 grit sandpaper instead of wax. A rough surface is actually faster than a smooth surface. Weird huh? Quote
LarryEA Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 Weird huh...and golf balls have dimples. I wonder why on both but in actuality I would rather wonder than have a scientific explanation. Larry Quote
Ken O Posted February 5, 2014 Author Report Posted February 5, 2014 Actually it's easy and not very scientific. Air is easier to travel through than water, so we use the roughness to cause small bubbles under the ride surface and that helps break the water tension therefore we can go faster. If you see the large offshore raceboats, they have large steps underneath to do the same thing. Quote
