wombatie Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Things that niggle away at us. Or what P's us off. Or what cheeses us off. Get my meaning? What are yours. Me first. I sent an email to someone and it was a simple question but one that needed to be answered by return email so to speak. Its now been a week and no reply. I know we all have busy lives but come on. Plus knowing that my email was read is even more maddening. Marg PS its no one you know. Quote
LarryEA Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Marg, t'd off, irked, po'd Good subject. What "Gets my goat" is On the broad side, liars and ignorance. There is one thing that really 'gets' me. "That's someone who finishes your sentence for you so they can talk." But lately it's the ' Government ' ... the ' weather ' ... keefie Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Any member of our government that think the sick and disabled are all skiving!!! (even the governments own survey proved that the amount of people fiddling the benefit system was only 1% - except in the houses of parliament where 100% of them fiddle their expenses!!!!!) wombatie, Phantom Scroller and Rob Roy 3 Quote
Bendita Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 There are many things that get my goat but probably the worse of the bunch are rude people and I do see my share of them here. The other is that people think that living alone is a decease, why is it that you must have a partner in life, who invented that idea? Ron Johnson, wombatie and keefie 3 Quote
browders Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 There are many things that get my goat but probably the worse of the bunch are rude people and I do see my share of them here. There are two things I learned from my now-deceased father. One is, "There is no excuse for bad manners." The other was, "Never get into a pi$$ing contest with a skunk." Both have served me well over the years. Bendita and wombatie 2 Quote
Ron Johnson Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Good morning Marg There are two things that upset me the most: (1) PEOPLE WHO LIVE THEIR WHOLE LIVES IN THE PAST and (2) LAZY PEOPLE WHO THINK THE WORLD OWES THEM A LIVING. And I will add a third: HYPOCRITES. I could dwell further on these three topics but today is too beautiful of a day to upset myself. Thank you and have yourself a beautiful day. Phantom Scroller Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Great one Marg. People who swear at their young children in shops in front of anybody and on there mobile phone at counter when being served no manners at all, no wonder they grow up with no respect for anyone. rjR Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 First-- I sometimes forget to answer emails/ or then lose them in CYBERSPACE! Sorry everyone -I do not mean for that to happen; but, I know it does! Now my main gripe is the people that think that only their opinion and that of their friends matters! #2-- The people that think someone else is responsible to make them HAPPY!-- That is the one D-I-Y job that nobody else can do for you! I totally agree that cell phones have made many people act in offensive ways! Our media focus on the "looks" and not the integrity of people also contributes to the lack of decency in this world. Enough of my rant; someone else's turn. LarryEA, Bendita, wombatie and 2 others 5 Quote
wombatie Posted February 20, 2014 Author Report Posted February 20, 2014 Hans my eldest daughter has the same problem, living alone and she doesn't have any children. She lives alone because that is how she wants it. She does have a partner but he has his own place, they get on quite well this way, they must do they have been together 12 years. And she doesn't have children because she doesn't want any. She gets fed up of people telling her that she is selfish or that they are sorry to hear that she lives alone. Her and Doug are both on the same page and they enjoy life its everyone else that has the problem. Marg Doug, Rob Roy, Bendita and 1 other 4 Quote
Bendita Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 Thanks for your support Marg, I don't have a partner in life but prefer it that way, I was betrayed to many times and now I just want to be alone and not have people feel sorry for me. Hell I get to scroll everyday, who does that? keefie, wombatie, Ron Johnson and 2 others 5 Quote

Multifasited Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Carl, Maybe I'm thick, Please explain (Fifth !!) Larry ,Back in my younger days ,you bought your Booz in pints or fifths (of a Gal ).I haven't bought any in so long ,It may be in liters now! You know you getting old when words that were common in your youth ,get the strangest looks like your from a different Planet Like LINOLIUM or Oleo, not to mentionGay or Hardtack ,kinda like Gramma being invited to a pajama party and be warned that thongs were in style ,and Gramma wanting to fit in showed up wearing brand new pink Flip-Flops . wombatie 1 Quote
LarryEA Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Yes Carl, I guess I just did not understand the context. Where I grew up, you bought a fifth in a poke store. A Pepsi or Coke was called soda, pop, dope. You called the cab company if you wanted a fifth late at night. 'Course you remember 'Duck Tails', the rolled up sleeve carring a pack of cigs. I even remember a cigs vending machine where the packs had a penny under the cellophane because the advertised price was 24cents enough Larry Quote
Multifasited Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 To this day I still wear a Flat top ,never went in for the DA look ,Remember the dirt track races w/Packard s & Hudson s Neighbors had a metropoliton ,sun beam another had Crosley ,a weekend trip was always good for at least one flat tire .Packed picnic baskets and cabins instead of motels .I got to quit ,I think ,I miss some of it!
