Zero tolerance means Zero tolerance!!!!! At ten years of age, he knows what that means. The school was quite correct in suspending him. I would have expelled him.

That is my opinion.

I'm not even going there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  second thoughts I suppose playing cowboys and Indians is a crime now.

lolol, Your right in more ways than one Roly, you can call it Cowboys and Natives, or Native Americans, but, you no longer call them Indians. Then again, there's that bows, arrows, and gun thing.

Don,I'd hate to have been a kid in your area when I was growing up, zero tolerance is not something that a 10 year old kid should have to worry about unless they actually did some harm. But to expel a kid for pointing a finger, is just plain ridiculous!!!!! This is my opinion, so, if it's alright with you, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree as we're all entitled to our opinions.

You can point your finger,

You can give a thumbs up

But don't point your finger and give a thumbs up

So Many People ,with so FEW important things to do , get together and They form the various (Pleasure police units) and make up rules ,for others to follow to insure thier own importance , reason and logic or responsibility have no place in thier zeal to make the perfect world . The liberal news media ,gives them the attention ,and social credientials ,and the NEED for thier important GUIDANCE areas they have NO knowledge or experience is assured to GROW!!

ZERO tolerance  means Nobody has to Think ,Reason or be Responsible ,It's the perfect answer for the Qualified administrators of OUR world !!

Now Thats a swell---ing and shrink---ing idea ,true precision in wood is like trying to nail jello to the wall ,You can get close ,but heat and humidity are not your friends ,if you ever owned a wooden lap straked boat ,or any wooden craft ,you know they always leaked after the first season and required recaulking throughout there life ,to be sea worthy .Like any living thing ,controled enviroment is required and even then shrinkage and swelling occur ,some more than others Ply wood is probabaly the worst because of the different woods used ,When I was adding my porches to the house ,ordered 50 sheets of ply 1/2" decking they unloaded in a sliding pile ,in the evening 5pm  the next day about noon the sun was out brite in late June ,the ply wood looked like potato chips all bucked and curled ,I called and had them pick it up and replace with osb , IMHO there is no way to have zero tolerance in any common wood !!

Even precision steel parts that intermesh or intersect are made + or minus a few thousands for tempature reasons mainly as well as costs ,even plastics take weeks to stabilize to it's normal range of size ,This is why Zero tolerance is a wet dream ,concocted by wishful thinkers (thinker is the wrong word) Dreamers !!! Sorry for the rant! I think ,I need a nap!

Rant on Carl, That is worth reading. I made a beautiful plaque for a friend. I cut it in

1/2" maple. Because of the change in atmosphere and temp,

it bowed and cracked apart after a couple months.

Started another with BB board to give him.

Yes and steel expands. The rails on most train tracks have a space between them for expansion

and contraction.

As for ' WOOD '  Boris Karloff would say, " It's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE! "

There's nothing wrong with my blood pressure, and I'm not upset with anything that has been stated here. As far as I'm concerned, it is just a conversation where each person can express what they think of the situation. Personally, I don't believe in zero tolerance, especially if your talking about kids. I can guarantee you that there is not one person on this site, that can say that they've not ever done something that is wrong. Here's a thought, try thinking about zero tolerance the next time you decide to take your car for a ride. I'm sure glad that there's no zero tolerance policy when it comes to speeding, I'd never have a license simply because I hate driving slow.

I had a friend who made cricket cages for fishing ,thats all he ever did as a business for 30 + years from wood and wire to plastic ,the big ones (round about 6x6" with the slip up collar has a very thin fine catch ring to keep the collar up to catch a cricket and the popped down to retain them ,would have to wait 6 weeks for the thin ring to stabilize ,before he was able to size to work properly ,reality of atmospheric effects on things .This is all part of the hip ,knee joint failures in joint replacements.
