inspirations Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Hi everyone, I need some help I have been ask if I am able to cut a picture of this car. and frame it ,this is not a problem however my problem is producing a pattern. This is a challenge for me because the lady who requested this her father back in the sixties made a replica of this classic car and enjoyed his motoring for many years with this model. She requires this for his 80th Birthday. Can any one. help thanks Brian Quote
heppnerguy Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Brian, I know this is not what you are looking for nor is it acceptable to meet your expectation. I like to take a crack at a pattern so that i can learn from others. I am not, nor do I imagine that I am a pattern maker, but I enjoy taking a crack at it for the learning benefits for myself. When someone does post to you a pattern that is what you are after, then I can see what I should have done and maybe help me to acquire some knowledge. thank you for your understanding. i had no idea how to do the spoked wheels so that will be interesting for me to see. Nick@tinkers-cove Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 I have a lot to learn, Have not a clue how the do the dark area fill in. I wanted to do that but ..... well, perhaps some day Hi Dick. It's all a learning curve, and it never seems to stop - there's always something extra to pick up from others as you see it. Most is just trial and error, but if I'm judging you're latest...I'd say you're on the right tracks. Seems pretty good to me. I'm sure the other makers would say the same - I tend to go for lots of detail, and eliminate what I can't manage. (Once it's removed from the pattern, it's gone). If I want to remove any detail on a pattern once printed - I simply use a black fine liner pen, and a silver 'Sharpie' pen to make the blank areas. Hope this helps you, and if you want anymore info...give me a shout. Kindest Regards, Nick. Quote
heppnerguy Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 thanks Nick, I will print it and see what I can do from there.. sounds challenging to me but I will give it a try and see what happens. thanks Dick heppnerguy Quote

Brian Hi Dick, if you drag you picture over the inkscape icon and let it go it will open in inkscape, then click on the picture goto PATH/TRACE BITMAP then in this box click to highlight grey and you can experiment with the settings you like click ok and you will see the new picture appear if you don't like what you see click on it and delete then click the picture again and start again. when your happy go file export and send it to the desktop for ease. Hope this helps heppnerguy and woodworker13403A 2 Quote
