I put this information in the general topics forum in response to a question, but figured it belonged here as well. In the Grizzly Tools catalog I just received, the are listing  a DeWalt scroll saw for sale at $439.00 plus shipping. I haven't checked prices elsewhere so I don't know if this is a good deal or not. Checking their web site, shipping to my area, (NW Montana) would be 23.95.

That is not a bad deal if it is the package including stand.

That shipping charge only buys a few gallons of fuel at $4 per each.

I paid $400 for my set in Rocklers on sale about 4 years ago now. The only things I do not like about the saw so far are.

The blade clamps have to watched or they move the blade off-center and the funky knobs. (Have to watch the allen screw-- I ended up lock-titeing it and seems to resolve that issue. Take a look and lock-tite it right away on both top and bottom with the removable kind.

The other complaint was the junk---light-- if they have not changed it; it is a small non-standard - bulb that a match gives about as n much light. On top of that it always was where I bumped it and moved from where I needed light.

I put a wooden platform between the saw and the stand-- it fit easily. I have one of the stem base spring arm lights there with several holes (in the platform) so it easily goes where needed.

I will recommend the saw to anyone. BUT I DO NOT DO fret work-- so can not say about how easy to use for that. It is a beast and easily cuts 3/4 hickory and does a nice job.

I will answer any question about it I can.

I love my DeWalt I haven't found any problems with it so far and use it about 4-6 hours daily I only bought the saw as I needed to ship it to Mexico and the additional weight would have added on to my freight, as it was the duty almost did me in all total I paid over 800 dollars delivered in Mexico.

So I'll say your 450 dollars sounds like a great deal.

Love my big yellow saw too, but the light I bought for it is a bit too heavy for the saw and I put that away for now. I do fret work and the blade feeding is much easier than it was on my Shop Fox saw. I get better cuts too. I got mine for about the same price and free shipping. It was here  within 2 to 3 days.  Take care  Fay
