This was my other entry to the 2 x 4 challenge.

 

Both boxes made from 1  2 x 4 of clear pine.  (3 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 96 inches.)

 

Not a scrap left over.

 

This was my first time I have flocked the inside of a box.

PS:  Runner up in the best in show category.

Very very nicely done project Don.  I like them.  I was going to ask about the lids but I think I see that you used a pair of small brass hinges?  Thanks for sharing these with us.

Were the mitered pieces with the fretwork also cut from the 2" x 4" or is that plywood?

No plywood.  Rules stated no accent wood.

 

Resawed 1/4 inch for face and did fret work and backed up with 1/2 inch from the same board. Then mitered the corners.
