    Porter Cable PCB375SS

I had this saw for a little over two years with no big issues at all. Ran well, very little vibration. The insert was the only real problem I had with it, and I simply made a new one out of MDF. Stand was fairly solid as long as the bolts were tight. I sold the saw to a friend when I bought my new Excalibur, and he is still using it after almost a year, so that's 3 years of use for under 200.00. Great saw for someone just starting out, or a on a limited budget.

  15. I did this for a year with my Intarsia. It was a nice store, in a tourist destination/park setting. I paid a monthly rent that I could off-set by working a day or two a month in the store in order to give the owner a day off. She charged 15% of sales, but also took care of all the sales tax issues, and other legalities. For me, it worked fairly well. Some months I made very little, some I made out pretty good. I would have stayed, but she lost her lease and had to close. Would I do it again? It would depend on the store, location, rent, and people involved.
  16. Square is cheaper than PayPal. Add the fact that it tracks your sales, and automatically adds sales tax if you set it to do so, and you can print a report at anytime, along with no other fees, Its no doubt the better deal. When I started I compared the different readers available. Square won hands down.
  17. for my Intarsia, the question seems to be.. How do you get so many colors without stain or paint? People are people. Some are educated to some extent, some are simply ignorant of the subject.
  18. Barb, Use the Square app to track sales, even cash sales, as it figures your sales tax, and keeps great records that you need for tax purposes. Everything I sell goes thru the square register on my tablet it gives the option of cash or card, and will email a receipt to the customer if they desire. Avoids a lot of issues.
  19. Square is Awesome. Its quick, and easy to use. Word of advise, If you are using the regular swipe reader, and you run a chip card, you are NOT protected if the card is fake. If it has the Chip...use the chip reader for your protection. Payments thru Square are in my account within 2-3 days after the sale. I can look back on a day, a month, or a year and see what my CC sales were, what my sales tax charges were, and much more. It allows me to keep track of what items I sold, and so much more info. I have had Square for 2 years, I originally got it for a show, planning to do more, and though I have so far only done the one show, I have used Square for payment from sales at work, and through personal contact. Extremely convenient.
  20. Grizzly Walk, pattern by Judy Gale Roberts, is 34 x 10 inches. Made of 45 pieces of Oak, Okoume, Peruvian Walnut, Poplar, Yellowheart, and Walnut I modified it by adding the Sun and a few birds in the sky.
  21. No, I think that one will wait just a while. LOL. I need to build up some inventory for an Art show next summer, so its back to doing animals, and nautical pieces, along with remaking several that I have sold.
  22. Bruce Worthingtons "The Gaurdian" 175 pieces of Aromatic Cedar, Aspen, Canarywood, Curly Cherry, Honey Locust, Leopardwood, Maple, Paduck, Peruvian Walnut, Poplar, and Shedua. 29 x 23 inches. This was the most challenging piece I have ever made, and the largest.
  23. I use Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse blades in sizes 1, 3, and 5, size is dependent on the wood hardness and thickness. Here is the latest update, everything except the head is shaped, and ready for final assembly. I should have it all done this coming weekend. Without a doubt, the most challenging piece I have made over the past 6 years of making Intarsia.
  24. Alot of people building this one... I finally have all the pieces of Bruce Worthington's, The Guardian, all cut out, except for the teeth which are so small, that I will cut them after shaping. 175 pieces, 11 different types of wood. If I am lucky, I hope to have it all shaped over the long Holiday weekend. Time will tell...
  25. A JGR pattern. Made with Aspen, Poplar, Walnut, and Yellowheart, on a Birch backing. 38 x 9 inches.
