Polar Bear Edited and Revisited #4 Well here is the 4th Installment of my Video. i have 1 more... i could probably have condinsed them all, but I wanted a little more viewing of certain areas of the project. So here you go, Enjoy the video. The Final video will be soon, I've already edited it, but I've uploaded it 2x already and it couldn't convert the video for me, so I'm going to try again this evening and see how that goes... Thanks.

Travis: No worries dude... I don't get offended very easy... I thought I would just clear it up how and why the use of my Saw this way and give you a little technical background of Paralysis. I know it wasn't really a Scroll Saw Issue being Technical about a Paralysis lol, but I thought maybe a Small background would help you and possibly everyone else understand.
-
Travis: This method helps me out more... if you was in my Shoes (Wheels) you would have a different aspect of how this works for me. I will explain a little technical information for you to understand the Situation... When you are Paralyzed... Certain Areas of the Spine give you different Paralysis... Mine is in the T Section of the Spine which means I have no Motor functions just right about the Armpit section... With this paralysis, I have no Hip movement or control, if I lean forward, I just basically Fall... Example, 2x4 on End, you give it a little push, nothing holding it up but balance, it falls. Same concept with me. And with a Rod in my Back, i can't arch my back, I can only look down and only wish I could arch my back. So with my Saw up to the armpit hight, this helps me lean back in my Chair, less Looking down with neck Pain. I can sit at a Correct Posture at my Saw and enjoy hours and hours of Scrolling without any Pain or anything... And if I lean forward I'm up close enought to the table that I don't fall into it, so I'm wedged between the table and the back of my Chair. hope this helps explain why I have my "Table Saw" At the level I do lol.

Fred: First I would like to say I also live in Indiana... A little North east of Indianapolis in a Small town called Hartford City. Great to see someone from my Home state... I hang around the woodwhisperer alot, well not here lately, been a little busy, but a few of the guys there are also from Indiana... It's also Glad to have you abord... Always nice to see a new Face around here... Expecially one that shares the same Hobbies and likes as everyone else here... You don't also, have to have, any projects completed to be a member here, not really a requirement, Althou it's nice to see what ones can do, and eventually you will partake into the world of Scroll Saw Village with a Hand of helping others also as you learn. Each of us had to start somewhere, and why not start here and now to achieve something more glorieful once one learns the aspects and the glory of Scroll Sawing. I've had a Scroll Saw for over a year now, I just got into Scroll Sawing this Last October, and I have achieved A LOT in the last 3 months, and you can ask the guys around here by looking at my Work, it looks like I've been Scrolling for a lot longer. Once you get your feet wet, it will be like riding a Bike, you will never forget, but once you don't ride it for a bit, you will be a little shaky at first when you start back up, but you will come out on top. Just remember never to be affraid or inteminated at the Scroll Saw or you will spend more time sitting and looking instread of sitting and Scrolling... Never be affraid to Make a Mistake, Mistakes only help you achieve a much more better project the next time, and always play around with Scraps some to learn control before you jump into the projects. This is how I achieved what I did, i drew lines, straight lines with rulers etc and practices scrolling them til i got the idea down, then i tacked the real thing after I got what I wanted to know down, I didn't read any books or anything to learn, I just jumped in started playing with it. Anyway, have a Great time, Enjoy the Scroll Saw, and we will be waiting to see your First and Most wonderful Pacoso Masterpiece when you have completed it!

George: Thank you so much... I have the orginal unedited videos, but no one enjoyed them as much yet, cause each video was 20 to 30 minutes long and I had 20 Videos... So I think they got bored... Anyway, I don't like Advertising on other Blogs unless it's Ok with the owner, and I belive Travis said it was ok... But if you have trouble watching the Videos here, They are also posted on my Blog at Http://handisworkshop.blogspot.com and I post them there also. JP: I'm hoping to teach people a little about scrolling... As there arn't really that much to learn about scrolling, there are different Techniques you can learn to help you along... Scroll Sawing is Simular to Using a Bandsaw... no Straight lines, Even no matter how hard you try, you won't get a Perfect Straight line... Eventually I am ging to Put out a Small Video explaning how to Achieve an Almost perfect Straight Line like I do which requires only a minimal Sanding to achieve the rest... So just keep checking back... I've got to edit the next videos for the Polar bears, and once they are Finished, i will drop them back in here...

Travis: You've not seen anything yet lol... That was a pattern I made from a Puplic Picture posted on Google of polar Bears... The pattern is Ok, it's not the Best pattern, I just followed some instructions in a Photoshop Tutorial how to convert pictures, and that's what I came up with... I'm going to attempt one of Christinas patterns here soon and see what I can come up with... The harder the better I always say, this is how you learn by pushing yourself. Seeing what you are capable of, if you don't know, then you will be stuck on the small stuff for a LONG Time...

Need advise for cutting Compound Wristwatch
Handi replied to MNscrollmom's topic in General Scroll Sawing
I would have to agree with Blame. Since you are going to use a Forstner Bit to cut this out, This would be your First form of Attack, This way you get out the smallest and most Fragile Area of your Workpiece... Once you have your hole Finished. Then I would work on the inside. Then the Outside... If the walls are then, Then I would be careful not to squeeze your workpiece or apply too much pressure or you could snap the Piece. Good Luck and We are waiting to see the Project once it's Finished! -
I love Mr. Bean, but the ole lady don't like him and thinks he's retarded and stupid. I love the fact that the man can make anyone laugh without saying a word... Most impressive... not many have that Tallent.. I've not gotten to my Scroll Saw in a bit lol, Been lazy and addicted more to World of Warcraft... AGAIN...

Christina. If Travis don't have a Problem, you can also see the Videos on my Blog, I don't like advertising on other forums or sites without asking. The video is smaller, and geared more for Dialup then Broadband... Those videos that you see here are right from blip.tv themselves... You can see the Flash Version on my Blog, Should Load ALOT Faster. I'm also glad that you enjoyed the Videos... It took me 3 Days of Recording with inturrptions from my dogs and family lol, and there was 20 Videos each inbetween 20 minutes to 30 minutes... un edited... The unedited version are on my Blog, and these are the edited version you see posted here.

Fran, I've only Been Scrolling for 3 months now, Since last Oct... So my Work is FAR From perfect... I have Tackled some Patterns that were pretty hard, but i enjoyed every minute of it thinking and saying to myself, Please don't break, just a little more, just a little more... And soon after the Scroll Saw prayer, My Work come out with all Pieces still attached... LOL

Christina, Thanks for the Comment, i think I was a Little bored that morning... And wanted to Spike up the Forum a little with a Laugh lol.

Travis: So far, my TC #1 and #3 seem to be my Favorite, since I cut Ply most of the time, I like the #5 also, But it's more for bigger stuff... i'm an intricate type of person, i like getting down to the Nittygritty stuff, small enought you need a Magnafying glass to see type stuff... The Spiral Blades... Well... I don't care much for them, Free hand or not, I like having more control of my Blades... And when you got a Spiral Blade... Control isn't on your side... it's the machine that's incontrol, and when the machine is incontrol... Well you might as well kiss your work goodbye... of course I've not found any matterns yet that i liked that would be useful for the Spirals... maybe if someone recommended one that would be nice... i would give them a try.

Here is Part 2 of the Video. I've not had time to get part 3 Edited just yet... World of Warcraft has been getting in my Way lately Enjoy the Video... And Be HONEST of how you like it, Critique is a MUST lol

Well all, I have released the First Video on my Blog. Now i've decided to release it here, since afterall, this is a Scroll Saw Forum so what better way to Express my Liking and my Passion then with the world? http://blip.tv/play/AeWaJwA Unfortunatly I've tried so many ways to add the video to this forum, but it's not allowing me to do so, So above is the link that will take you right to the Video. i don't have it uploaded to Youtube because the file is so big and I've tried it several times and it didn't go, so I FTP'd it to Blip where all my Videos are at. Enjoy, I will post each video under this thread so I don't clutter the General Forum up with multi threads about the same Video.

Mine is on my kitchen Table along with my Laptop. Well considering the location of the table, it's not really in the Kitchen and it's not in the Dining Room either, so it must be living room table. Either way, i got just enought room to eat my Food and have my plate and still have room to roll my mouse around and then swing on over to the scroll saw... So Life is good here... i would take a picture of my Mess, but the Ole Lady would jump my arse in doing so rofl.

Thanks everybody for the comments... I don't know what I was thinking... It just came off the top of my head as i was writing it. I guess a Different Topic of Discussion or something or to see how others would react... A Beer would only be Great after the Project is finished, not during lol... of course unless you have a metal Blade in your Saw, then yu can cut the top off the can.... lol Thanks everyone, glad there was enjoyment outta it!

Right now I still have the Pattern Locked into place on my Scroll Saw that I've not touched in almost a week.... Damn World of Warcraft for it's Warcrack addiction. I will get to it this weekend most likely, and I've got a Couple of Projects to eventually get sent out to friends...

I am a perfectionest and it really sucks. it's really hard to get anything right, in my eyes anyway. No matter how hard I try, I always find something wrong with it, I always want to throw it away and start over... on one of my pieces, the Round Fretwork you see in my Introduction Video, that has a Flaw in it, I was 3/4 way finished with this project until I messed it up. I came VERY Close to tossing it in File 13... But something told me to finish it even thou it wasn't even worth it. I finished it, and the end result wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, turned the right way, The flaw was undetectable.

Your best work is achieved by the eyes of another. Where you see Flaws, They See Gold. Where you see something else, they see Treasure. It's always not what you think, if it was you could pass up the oppotrunity to make an extra buck or so. i have only been scrolling for about 3 months, where I see that something of mine may not be good enough, many flaws, others are very intrigued by my work and ask how long i've been scrolling. So I have to take the word of ther "Eyes of the Beholders" Opinion on my work where they think the world and are in awe by it where I'm satified with it and know I can do better. Welcome to the Forum, We are glad to have another Friendly Face here

Handi replied to Christina's topic in General Scroll Sawing

Blower's don't work very well on them machines... The blowers rely on the Upper Arme and the RPM's of the arm up and down to circulate Air threw the tube to blow off the sawdust off your work. The shorder your blades are, the less Dust it blows off...
