  1. Hi Fish: Sticky situation you're in I see When I ran into this problem, I used a small torch and gently ran it over the piece with the tape. You have to do it fast or you will have a nice charred look to your design. Just enough to warm up the tape then it just rolls off your piece. Similar method as Phantom Scroller (Roly) I put clear packing tape on the wood, then use the dollar store glue sticks and apply it to both the tape and the back of the pattern then another row of tape on top of the pattern. This keeps everything together in case I miss a spot or two with the glue. and lubricates the blade at the same time Peels off nice once done. This method works for me. Good luck Fab4
  2. Hi SJ: Just goes to show you Little imagination goes a long way Thanks for posting the picture Fab4
  3. Hi Roly: After looking at your picture with your mask on, I couldn't resist on trying my pattern making skills How did I do? Fab4 Actually, I cannot tell a lie This pattern was done for me a few years ago to add to my Darth Vader collection I'm still at the learning stage for pattern making. But if I would make the pattern this is what I would have done

  10. Being somewhat new at this at the time I bought my first table saw, I decided to build a cassette holder. Cutting the 2" X 4"X 1/4" pieces for the shelves with the radio blaring the background. This was a very monotonous chore, but the music was good so I was rockin' until the one cut went in crooked. The piece jammed between the fence and the blade. Went to turn the saw off but I was too late,That jammed piece came flying back at me and hit me in the stomach. This took maybe 3 seconds but took years off my life Other than having a welt on my stomach no other damage was done This is when I realized how fast things happen. Learned a lesson that day and still know today how much it hurt and how fast it happened. Fab4 Oh yeah, I still listen to music in the shop but it's at a "normal" listening mode - The only rockin' I do now is when I sit in my chair
  11. After reading Gator's thread about his accident in the shop, I thought it would be interesting to find out about other close calls we had in the shop. Please share any unpleasant mishaps you encountered. This may help someone else down the line. OR (let me rephrase my comment) If you did something stupid in the shop and want to share that experience please post your story. Thanks Fab4

  13. Hi Gator I look at this and all I can think of is "Insanity at it's best" The work and time it must have taken you. Labor of love for sure, but isn't really satisfying when it's all done and ready to hang or give away. The finish product is beautiful, well done indeed Thank you for showing us Fab4

  23. Hi Frank: Well done and good idea from Don about the drilling Fab4 I just watched your video I really love your state of the art clamping system That must have cost you a fortune I think I have the same system.......(lol) Great video, it shows exactly what is involved in making the bowl After looking at the finished product, I say you should have sanded it a bit more.......(just kidding, Frank!!!) Thanks for posting this for all of us to see
  24. Hi Katie: What type of wood should/do I use? How do I attach the pattern? Blade choice Where to start cutting the pattern - start towards the middle and work your way out or vice versa Buy what fits your budget and you will do fine Too much information will bore them to death - Stick to the basics for this one - KISS rule should apply to this presentation Good luck Fab4
