  1. I have used them twice for two big projects and everything went great.
  2. Amazingkevin, I just got back from a trip and noticed your comments. Thanks to all. I could send it out to you but then I would have to build another. I am working on the Apostles Clock now and that will take a long time, and my wife says no way will the Depot Clock leave the house. I am so glad everyone who saw the pictures enjoyed them. I hope to do the same thing with the Apostles Clock but it will take longer. Thanks again to everyone. RichB
  3. Yes I did get the sound and lights. It was fun fitting all of the electronics in the depot. If you look at my pictures I try-ed to show everyone how I did it. I also made the top removable which helped. The lights only work when you turn them on to show the clock. The sounds go on each hour with a photo electric cell. This shuts the sound off at night. I am glad to help with any other questions. RichB
  4. Thanks again everyone. I am now working on the Apostles Clock. I know for a fact it will take a lot longer then the Train Depot. Retirement gives me a lot of time. My wife is working her last day today. She loves to paint. We are going to try and work her painting with scrolling. We enjoy the sounds on the Train Depot every day.
  5. I have just started on the Apostle"s Clock. I have the bottom sides, and front panel cut so far. What a project. No hurry on this one.
  6. I really like this. It will take a little getting used to but that's OK. Nice, thanks for all the work on this.
  7. I thank all of you so much for all the great comments. I enjoyed this project so much that I just had to share it with everybody. It is prettty easy to build but you need a table saw because of the many square parts. I have become friends with Ben12 over this project. We were building it together using E-Mails and we are going to meet each other in the future. I make pens with my son and we do a few shows so I had to fit this in and it was well worth it. If anybody is going to build the clock in the future feel free to ask any questions you might have. Thanks again RichB
  8. I have finally finished my clock with some pictures on Photobucket. It was a lot of fun. I am retired so I took some time doing it. I think it was 3 months about 2 or 4 hours on some days. I made some changes on the construction for wiring it which made it a lot easier. I purchased the plans from The Art Factory and the lumber from Ocooch Hardwoods and both were very helpful. I am willing to answer any questions and thanks for looking and I hope the link works. http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t125 ... t%20Clock/
  9. Hi Joey it was me RichB. I sent a PM
  10. Outstanding job Ben. Ben and I have been working on the project together with E-Mails. He went beyond me on this special project. We have become friends over this. I hope to finish up mine sometime with all the sounds and lights and show it off. I really like the different woods he put in to it and the sign. Thanks Ben, RichB
  11. Great Job two of my favorites in life motorcycles and tractors. Thanks for showing.
  12. My wife and I thank all of you for the kind compliments. We can't wait for our son and his wife, and kids, to see them Christmas. I haven't posted much on here because of all the work on these cuttings and the pens me and my son make. I have a much more appreciation for the art of Scroll Sawing now.
  13. I did make the frames. I stack cut each one with 1/8 BB so I have 6 pictures. Three for my son and his wife and three for us. The center one was the first and we learned not to make it so complicated on the second girl. It cut ok but it took a lot of time and a lot of holding the long strips down. The boy I did in in one day. This was a lot of fun and I learned a lot doing them. Everything I learned I learned from Travis and other ones on this Forum. I plan on doing more. My next one will be one of our house of 30 yrs which was taken down for a high rise. Thanks to everyone for your help. RichB
  14. My wife and I went through the Gimp class and this is the results for Christmas. These are our three grandchildren. Thanks so much Travis.
  15. I can not seem to get it all to work. I cannot seem to find a tutorial on posting a image in the bragging section. I see one for the gallery and library. I am not sure if I post a larger picture and in reduces it with attachments or do I post it small 80x90 and it makes it bigger when you click it. Is there a size limit in a post. Thanks RichB
  16. I did get it right. Check out my new post under the same subject. I did create an album. Thanks for the help RichB
  17. What a great project. I am just starting scroll sawing, now I have much more appreciation for the art. All those cuttings had to to take forever. Thanks for showing.
  18. That is a great looking cutting. I enjoy looking and watching hummingbirds. The Blue really shows off the detail. What size and type of blades on the leafs did you use? I can see the blue comes through very well. Thanks for showing Rich
  19. Thanks Barry I didn't think of that. I have cut some on my big saw and I remember that. Nasty
  20. Thanks Juvy. After reading your help I like the idea of MDF . I think Hard Board might work also. I hate to ruin a good piece of BB or other with break out on the back side when MDF and maybe hard board might help stop this. Thanks Rich
  21. Thanks Travis I just read the Wiki link and that answered some questions. I think I will stack two 1/8 and use the 3 and 5 FD-TC . I plan on posting the pattern but I haven't studied the posting picture sequnce yet. I am used to posting pictures from my computer resized. Wish me luck. Thanks Again. Rich
  22. Thanks you so much. I plan on making my frames because I have quite a wood shop that is just begging to be used for more than pens and scrolling. I do understand the thickness issue for frames. When stacking say 2 or 3 1/8 pieces do you use two sided tape in some places or cover each surface with adhesive? I would think when using tape it should be put in the delicate places, am I thinking right? Thanks Again. More ideas are always welcome.
  23. Thanks Barry this does help. I figured the thicker would hide the see through. Then I thought I could cut the single lines wider but that will leave some very thin pieces left. I did try the spiral 3 and 5. They left a lot of fuzzes, the control was pretty good but I liked the straight blade best. It cut with almost no fuzzes. If anyone has more information on this feel free. Is it possible for the kind of wood, and thickness be posted with portraits, puzzles, and other projects? Thanks Rich
  24. My wife and I have gone through all of Travis's classes and we are not ready to try our hand at scrollsawing one of our grandkids portraits. My question is what thickness of Ply,BB or other wood should we use? We want to show as much detail as possible. I plan on using #3 and #5 blades from FD. I have been practicing on some 3/16th BB and the blades have a mind of there own in some places. Some people use 1/8 and 1/4. Do they both cut with a lot of detail showing through to the black background? Does one cut with more control then the other? I have read so many threads on some of this I am a little confused. Please Help if you can. Thanks Rich
  25. Been working an three portraits, on each of our grandkids. My wife and I have been going back to school with Travis. When they are done I will learn how to post a picture. Rich
