  1. Rockler and Woodcraft also have them.
  2. That looks great, Ron! is it your own pattern?
  3. Sounds like you got a good deal. I had a Craftsman 16" that worked pretty good. I believe the heavier the saw the better the vibration control. My Craftsman weighed about 50 lbs. but my Delta weights over 120 lbs. with the stand.
  4. Hey Edward, superglue should work. Of course, there are other ways depending on what you're doing. I've seen some neat fretwork with colored plexi as a backer, but I don't know how these were mounted.
  5. Barry, show us a before and after picture. I like to know I'm not the only one who cleans up only when I can't find tools.
  6. Welcome to the village! And bringing almost 40 years of scrolling. That is great. Please share you tips and photos, we need photos. Dan
  7. If I was to buy one just for fretwork, I'd get a cordless dremel tool and the drill press stand. If you plan to do more with it, get one with a large working surface. I have a Delta benchtop drill press I picked up second hand. I only have about an 8" depth and that is a real drawback. That's why the Dremel is my 2 cents. Dan
  8. Darn, Chris. Ya beat me to it.
  9. Also, see if there's an option to Save to the Web. Most photo editing programs now have this option.

Thanks Christina. I make the blanks myself. Unfortunately I don't sell them. I usually just take left over hardwood scraps and resaw them on the bandsaw. It takes a bit of sanding but I really like the finish and feel.
  11. I just read a post and see that Christina has her saw in the living room. That's cool! I got to thinking, where does everyone saw? Mine was in the garage until the weather got cold, now it's in the basement. Where's yours?
  12. Nice job. Better late than never. And you can say the bubble gum machine if from 2009 but the bubble gum in it is for 2010.
  13. Dale, No picture, it didn't happen. Dan
  14. I was looking for an outlet to relieve stress. I told my wife I needed to do some kind of woodworking indoors (at the time I was living in Alaska with no garage). She bought me my first scroll saw for Christmas. The rest is history. At first it was just fretwork and portraits. The I saw some intarsia. Next was segentation and compound cuts. Then inlays, bowls and pens. What's next? BTW, great topic. Dan
  15. Yes, use the stand. I have a Delta on a stand and there is almost no vibration. I have an old bar stool that I sit on while sawing. I wish the stool was taller or the stand shorter, but it works for me. I haven't tried lemon oil so I can't help you there. I do use boiled linseed oil (BLO) and it does about the same as lemon oil. Enjoy you new saw. It's a very popular model and I'm sure you will love it. Be sure to show some pics when you get done. Dan
  16. Yup. Just like everyone else, go with the planer. If you are going to edge-glue boards, then a jointer will come in handy. Of course, I've cut some boards on the table saw and was able to get some acceptable glue-ups. But for what you do the planer will be more useful. If you don't plan to use it much, you may be able to get by with the cheaper one, but you get what you pay for. I have a Craftsman that I spent $240 on and I'm happy with it, but if I was to get another one, I would spend more to get a better product. Good luck with your search.
  17. That must be a great honor. From what I've seen, you're work deserves to be there. Congratulations!

Mike, Are these hardwoods that you use? Where on earth do you get them? I keep looking but never found a source. I agree about the joiner. Scary machine. Dan

Oops! Forgot to say what woods I used. Top to bottom are birds-eye maple, black cherry, and persimmon. I resaw at 1/16" then sand. I don't think they are 1/32" though - that's scary thin. Mike, do you buy them that thin or do you cut them yourself?

Made a batch of bookmarks today. These are always fun to make.
  21. Never heard of it. It might be a Pwer Kraft sold years ago by Wards. Does it look like this - http://www.owwm.com/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=6377? I would put my money into something more well known, that way you can get info and parts as needed. You can sometimes find new scroll saws in the $100 price range. That's my 2 pennies.
  22. Looks like eBay removed that listing.
  23. I sent a message to the seller about apparent copyright violation and this is the response sent back: "no because I made this video my self om my computer". I find that funny because on the eBay listing it says "This is the complete class taught at Scroll Saw Village and is still available to download for free on the website." Not sure what this person's thoughts were, but the item is still listed.
  24. I couldn't find the place on eBay to report them so I sent a message to the seller and chewed them out. Probably won't do any good, but I sure feel better. I hope they get slammed by eBay.
  25. Looks great Clayton. I did one last year for my nephew. It was a blast to make. If anyone is interested, PSI has the brass doors on sale for $12.95 each which is half off.
