  1. When I scroll I like to listen to the old Rock-n-Roll brother for there's no other kind of music , sure not any of that Rap-Crap for sure........Marshall
  2. Kevin: I've never had the problem with the 788 , but now I'm an odd duck for I thread my work though the top blade > now it works for me and I've been told that I'm doing it wrong > but what ever works { Right } . And as far as oil holes , don't worry about them > it will take care of itself .Thumb screws holders work just fine for me > One more thing to try if you having trouble with the blades comeing out of the blade holder loosen up on the tension some and maybe slow your feed speed down and slow you push rate down to and try this sometimes you just have too play with it till you find you groove point . And the vise holder not sure about that holder ,don't like spiral blades tryed them and they are not for me { hate them } . I'm no expert but been scrolling for over 13 years now ...............Marshall
  3. Griley : This was the best deal that I found after I had already ordered mine from tools plus , so you got the best deal in my book . And I have several Grizzly big machines and you can't go wrong with Grizzly tools . ......Great choice ... ........Marshall
  4. Scotti : I sure don't have any idea what its worth , but this should give you penty of Walnut to do you for along while after you stack and get it air dryed . Of course make sure you put spacers between each layer of green wood when air drying it , which I'm sure your going to do this . For I've never paid anyone to Kild-dry any Lumber before , air drying takes some time but if you have time to wait it be work ....I've stacked and waited for this process to happen just takes time . ...........Marshall
  5. Thanks Sue your doing a real good job on the leasons that your providing us , keep it coming and it's finally soaking in now............Marshall
  6. Sue as I said earlier in my post this is very time comsuming , and I'm kind of like your husband I'd probably threw it in the trash can . But this would be good for making one a patience person . You was talking about the elevation ,I hope that most of the patterns state the elevation . For this is real important in this project I can see for sure , looks good as far as I can tell > but then I'm not one to say anyhow ... .....Marshall
  7. I have made a name plate for my sept-sons desk , he works at a Harley-Davidson Dealership and is a saleman and parts manager and also he is a Harley - man of course . He doesn't know he getting this , I ask him several weeks ago if he had his own name on his desk and of course he said no > well now he will have . I took a couple of ideas and just put them together and this is what I can up with . 10. I use 1/8" and 1/4" BB plywood and I use a backer board on all my drilling when it comes to all BB plywood and never had the problem with splentering and cutting at a slower rate may help . I use Flying Duchman blades and I'm no expert when it come to where to buy the plywood . I buy all my BB plywood from Sloan's Woodshop in Tenn . Maybe this will give you some insight on this problem . Scrolling is my passion and after 12 years this is a couple of things that I have learned...hope this helps you ..........Marshall

  12. I was out in the shop Sunday afternoon after working in it Friday and Saturday on other projects presents for Christmas and I thought I would make the cut of this Pattern that my friend Steve sent me . And I think that I'll give it one more coat of paint and the candle holder is just for looks , it would need to be taken out for the candle to give the pumpkin the full light effect . Tell what you think...........Marshall
  13. Sue I'm going to keep an eye on your project for one day I want to try something like your doing here . I'm mostly in to Christmas Ornaments and some portraits , this kind of work your doing here takes so much time in the sanding and getting the right look . But I'm going to try and learn from you , so you'll have my attention for sure ..... ..............Marshall

  20. Hey guys I have a craftsman 16 inch variable speed saw that I retired because the jaws were shot and fiqured that the jaws would be more then it was worth because of all the hours that was on it . I never checked to see what the price of new jaws would be , so I brought a new big yellow 788 machine . I use the old craftsman for a detail sander now , guess I should check out the new jaw prices . ..........Marshall
