thanks Dave .It was trying as i had lots to do to get it to the end ,I had to pick out a raw piece of cedar Cut it in half twice on the table saw so i guess it was 8" then plan all the sides and cut one more piece in half 8" and plan Glue and put in the press two pieces so i could have a piece big enough to work with for the sides Get a hard wood stand cut and sand and rout a two sided bevel all around the top Print out the pattern of the "R" and glue to the large wood i just glued two times Cut it out and be real carefull as aromatic cedar is very fragile being thin 1/8" Find some more thin wood and use as a backed for both sides and glue and clamp Cut the slots in the stand to fit the pegs on the sides and glue,then 4 coats of poly and im done

thanks The two thin woods on the sides are very sound producing a rub or a flick and the sound is that of something hollow

Thin woods you need to cut slow and easy as the blades want to go off coarse to easy 3/4' plywood slows down the cutting mistakes and gives you time to think about whats coming up.The larger the more room for accidents like a straight line long is hard to control and make it look good.Circles are the worst.

I had a dremil 18-- something 18" it lasted a year and the sent me a new one ,the new one lasted 2 months,Chinese saws in 3/4" plywood lasted about a year DW788's about a year too Some only a few months as they were used never had a new dw788 but the dremil was new.Thanks friend

I have dreams of working in a scroll saw factory with women,Seems there's competition always So the girls set up a contest to see who's best,Well they oiled my blades greased my blade holders.cut the wire for my light all before the competition against the best girl.Well she wasn't competition for me and when it started i went bananas trying to keep the blade under tension ,the girls were laughing ,One thing after another slowed me down but i caught up and at the last second of us both finishing i broke my blade on purpose so she could win,what a good dream that was,an i've had it more than once.How bout them apples.lol :rofl: :rofl:thanks Falcon

No not yet but i wake up from a dream and reach out for something or reach out to pick something up an open my eyes and realize i'm in lala land .Never used to do this ,it's funny when it happens,But i still fall asleep at the saw with it running and a project with a blade in it ,never had an accident yet

I've wore out over a dozen chinese saws ,Two dremils 8 dewalts and i'm on my 9th dw788 type 2. I learned a long time ago to have lots of back ups.All i have now for back up is a craftsman 20" commercial c-arm and 6 broken Dw788's on the shelve i think they just need bearings now that i think back how i fixed my first one which i gave to my friend and he still uses it. Thanks Country Girl
