  1. Brilliant! I love it. H.
  2. What a beautiful little box. It was worth doing three times as this is the result. I love it.
  3. That is one mad looking fish! Great cutting. Well Done! H
  4. Great pattern. Great cut. Well done guys. H.
  5. Love the kittens. I have a little 3 year old black cat (with just a white tip to her tail) and she still acts like the kittens in your cutting. I give up trying to keep score. I'd rather not paint hardwoods but if that's what I've cut it out of and the customer wants it painted I suppose I'd do it. Does this mean I'm sitting on the fence? H.
  6. Lovely box David. I'm sure your daughter-in-law will love it. With regard to the finish - I have had similar problems in the past and have found a product called Rustin's Plastic Coating to be the best option. It takes a little practice but you can get a really good thick coat that fills all grain and looks great. I'm sorry I don't know if it is available in the US. I have attached a picture of the box in case it helps. H.
  7. Wow!!!
  8. What a lovely puzzle! I suspect your youngest may not want to give this as a present - they'll want it for themselves (I know I certainly would) Beautiful work Frieke. H.
  9. Congratulations Kev!!! Really good to hear you doing so well on your first outing. Just to add to what others have said; we have a laptop that we take with us - it has a powerpoint presentation on it of stuff I've made and sold or that's just to big to take to the show. We have it chained to the table (so it doesn't wander off) and it certainly grabs people's attention. H.
  10. Don't I know it! Unfortunately it was my ponytail that swung round and got dragged into my drill before I knew it - sort of stalled the drill bit but swung the body of the drill round instead, smacking me in the mouth leaving a scar on the outside and a broken tooth on the inside to remind me of the lesson. One of my work colleagues had to cut the drill out of my hair and then cut the hair out of my drill. I've taken to using one of those hairclamp things now - a large one holds most of my wayward mop out of the way. H.
  11. They're both fantastic! I can't decide which I prefer either! Lovely job. H.
  12. Sounds like you've been busy. Hope everthing goes well with your mom's move. I love the snowflakes. We have quite a bit of snow over here at the moment - not something this country can cope with (we grind to a halt cos we're not used to it). Can you take any photo's a bit closer so we can see the detail? What did you cut them out of? H.
  13. These are really pretty. Nice cutting. H.
  14. You may remember earlier this month Walt 3010 posted a request for a pattern of Zahra Baker as he wanted to make a gift to the local police. I responded with a pattern and Walt felt it was good enough to cut. He made a great job of it (well I think so) but hasn't yet worked out how to post a picture on the forum so I thought I'd help him out. A real Transatlantic team effort I think. H. http://i744.photobucket.com/albums/xx90 ... /zahra.jpg
  15. Fantastic! The pyro is brilliant. I love the bird - such a cheeky look on its face. H.
  16. Lovely bowl. I'm really gonna have to have a go at this tilt cutting. How did you smooth the inside? By hand or machine? H.
  17. Love the cat. Reminds me of one of mine who always wants a fuss and cuddle whenever (and wherever) I sit down. I was going to log on about an hour ago but she sat on my laptop. H.
  18. I'm a big fan of cats both large and small. This one is really special. Thanks for sharing (fellow Kettering bod ). H
  19. Yes it must definitely be a woman thing. I can see exactly why 'er indoors wanted a black frame. It's perfect. The cutting is perfect too - I love the whole thing. Thanks for sharing. H.
  20. That is a really beautiful piece of work you've done there Steve. Lovely clean lines. H.
  21. Lovely cutting. She really does seem to be looking at something. I have a tabby cat who has dark splodges at the foundation of each whisker so the entry holes look authentic to me (See attached). Nice job Magic
  22. Thanks for the information. I've been invited to have a stall at a Dragon Boat Race this weekend so am busily trying to finish boxes/pens/scrollsaw work and leatherwork stuff etc for that, but I'm love to try something new so I'm gonna have to have a go. Will keep you posted. H.
  23. Sorry Susie, can't help you there. The most appropriate piece of kit that I have for this type of work is a hand held random orbit sander - nice and gentle, no kick back and not too expensive. Mine's got a buffer attachment so I can polish stuff too. H.
  24. Nice job Vector. I love them. I don't know about a kids' Christmas table - I think they'd look great on any Christmas table. I also suspect your wife wants you to make a bigger tree so she can use her own craft stuff lol H
  25. Hmm. I'm sure you can understand why both Susie and I now wear gloves. Once sanded ... Sorry Susie I'm getting away from the subject of your fantastic bowl. I've just seen the size of it in the title - it's ENORMOUS. Are all your bowls straight sided of do you curve the sides as well? I was thinking about having a go (at a little one ) but it would have to have straight sides - I don't think I could get my head round the angles of a curved one. H.
