  2. Welcome to the Village Mike, from another newbie.
  3. Good Evening Folks! First of all, I want to say a big thanks to everyone that has taken the time to answer all my questions, you have been very helpful in getting me started on the right path in this wonderful and addicting hobby. Well I made my first cut - It didn't turn out well at all. Don't get me wrong, it did come out better than expected. I have documented, my mistakes, and will learn from them. Ignore the touch up on the tail, I did that in MS Paint, the blade got a way from me. Also, I used the cheap blade that came with the saw, for my next cut I will install one of the FD blades I purchased. Steven
  4. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I will be doing a lot of experimenting. Time to get cutting, and some projects. Thanks Again, Steven
  5. Good Day Folks! OK, I promise this is my last question before I post my first project What do ya'll suggest for finishing a project using baltic birch? Lemon Oil? Clear Acrylic Spray? I plan on making one of Steve Good's Dog Puzzles (Dachshund). Thanks in advance, Steven
  6. Thank You for the response, I adjusted both the bottom and top set screws, all is good now. Your help is greatly appreciated! Steven
  7. Good Day Folks! I am trying to get the finishing touches on the new saw, however I can't seem to get the blade centered (See Picture). Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You, Steven
  8. Congrats Clayton! And thanks again for all that you do! Steven
  9. Thank you for the reply, I was thinking of writing SAMPLE all over the pattern so it couldn't be used, but the more I though about it, I agree, it should not be posted. I will look around the patterns here, and see if I can find something similar to use has a reference for my questions when I start the project. Steven
  10. I have a picture of the pattern, I wonder if it would be OK to post a sample? Steven
  11. If I can get my skills together, I maybe in. Will have to see what happens once the saw gets here, and I start scrolling. Steven
  12. Thank You everyone for the wealth of information. This is going to be fun, experimenting with the different types of backgrounds. Thanks Again All, Steven
  13. Good Day Folks! As many of you know, I am new to the hobby. I just found a book called 50 Easy Weekend Scroll Saw Projects at 1/2 price books. I found a pattern I would like to try after I get some practice. On page 24 there is a train pattern, It has 3/8 TK on it, what is 3/8 TK? also it says Optional, add a cloth and mirror backing - what type of cloth are they talking about, also how would one add a mirror backing? How would one cut a custom mirror backing? Thanks in advance, Steven
  14. Thanks again to you for pointing out the website. I can't wait to start scrolling. I also ordered a Shop-Vac, and putting together an order for some blades and drill bits.
  15. Are whole room is done in Polar Bears and Penguins, she loves polar bears. I have been looking at different Polar Bear patterns, I plan on making her something nice. Steven
  16. Good Day Folks! Well, I decided to take the plunge and get the Dewalt-DW788, I just ordered it from Grizzly.com. Can't wait for it to get here. I was going to get the Porter-Cable from Lowes, but AmazingKevin pointed out the sweet deal on the Dewalt. My lady is actually buying it for me, well 1/2 of it. Thanks for listening, Steve
  17. Thank You for the recommendation, I checked out the site, and it's a great deal. Have you, or anyone here ever order from Grizzly.com? Steven
  18. Here is my dilemma, Lowes has the PORTER-CABLE 16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw with Stand for $189 which has good reviews. However, I have 2 $50 gifts card for Amazon, and they don't sell that one. So I was looking on Amazon, for one that is similar, for around the same price. It's looking like I will have to buy the one from Lowes, and use the gift card for something else, or wait another 2 months and save money, use the gift card + money saved and buy the Dewalt. Thanks all for listening, and the input Steven /I am really excited to get started in the hobby
  19. Welcome back... I am new here, and everyone has been very helpful. Steven
  20. Good Day Folks! Has anyone heard anything, or know to find reviews on this saw - Skil 3335-02 120-Volt Scroll Saw? I may have an opportunity to get one for $85. How would it compare to the PORTER-CABLE 16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw? Thanks in advance, Steven
