  1. Dick, Thanks for posting why you had to replace your clamp assembly. I made the add-on you referred to. It didn't strip the threads, but After about 6 months of use, it spread the clamp apart so the knob screw and set screw didn't line up.
  2. I feed from the bottom also. On larger pieces, I'll round over the top end of the blade or file it to a point. Like Steve suggested, make sure the holes are clear.
  3. Right handed and cut both ways, but counter clockwise most of the time
  4. Nice score Kevin. Congratulations
  5. Merry Christmas to all from Massachusetts.
  6. Sully, have you checked craigslist. there's a dewalt 733 in Maryville for $150 Posted yesterday
  7. Quick way to check if your blade is square to the table: Cut about 1/4" into the edge of a 2x4, back out of the cut, slide the 2x4 around to the back of the blade, the blade should slide right into the slot you just cut. if it doesn't adjust the table until it does. I keep one next to the saw maked with which blade made the cut. Makes it quick to readjust the table back to 90*.
  8. I filled out a survey for woodworker's journal a while back. They emailed me last week I won something for participating. Figured it would be a book or something, UPS dropped this off this AM. Freud Fusion 10†40t blade. Way Cool.
  9. I picked this one up at HF a few years ago. No problems with it. With a discount coupon, its around $30.
  10. I also have the Ridgid sander and love it. Woodcraft and Hightland woodworking both have the 14" Rikon Deluxe on sale for $799. Like Travis suggested, check out lumberjocks and woodworkingtalk for reviews/discussions on different bandsaws. I've read good things about Grizzly's. There's a Woodcraft near me so I got the Rikon.
  11. The knives are double edged and adjustable side to side maybe 1/16 -1/8". With a small nick, I adjust one knife to the left, another one to the right and it may clean up it up.
  12. I use one from Harbor Freight. Have had no problems with joints loosening, etc. If you watch for it to go on sale and use a 20% off coupon, you can get it for around $25.
  13. Jerry, The type is listed on the motor info plate on the top left under the DW788. Sent you the parts breakdown. Mike
  14. Jerry A good place for tune-up and repairs is http://www.scrollsaws.com/SawReviews/DewltTuneUp.htm I have a parts breakdown but not sure how to post it hear. Send me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you Mike
  15. Not sure if this will help you, but its a good site for troubleshooting dw788 problems http://www.scrollsaws.com/SawReviews/DewltTuneUp.htm
  16. I use a free product called quick pdf tools. I think I got it at cnet.com. It will extract each page of a pdf file to a jpeg images (a 10 page pdf will yield 10 jpeg files). If you purchase the full version, it will convert images into a pdf file (i use inkscape to do that)
  17. I take an old playing card, run it into the blade about an inch or so, back it out a bit and tape it to the table. Mike
  18. Hello, My name is Michael, I'm from Taunton MA. I'm new to scrolling. Have had a scrollsaw (Craftsman 13") for years but never used it. Tried it a few months ago and loved working with it. I plan on getting a Dewalt 788 soon. I was looking for a tutorial on Inkscape and came across Travis's Presentations. Watched the first 3 episodes and thought this would be a good forum to join and learn from. Travis, you are an awesome instructor. Thank You Michael
