Thank you everyone. I've decided to not use packing tape any more and see if that makes a difference. It's usually the packing tape that lifts and then the pattern starts to lift. Cheers!

Been "scrolling" for seven years (ish). I cover my wood with painter's tape, spray the tape and backside of the pattern with spray adhesive, apply to the tape, and cover with good quality packing tape. _However_ inevitably when cutting fretwork or making intricate, tiny cuts the packing tape and pattern separate and it turns into guess work as to where to cut. Does this happen to everyone and you just accept it or am I missing something? Thank you.

Hi Larry. A few years ago the air hose detached itself from the upper housing on your De Walt DW 788. The plastic swivel joint at the housing has cracked on mine now and there's no support for the hose. Of the recommendations made to you to rectify the problem what did you end up doing. Did you get the tool? Thank you.

Good morning William. I, too, use a DW788 (a recent acquisition). I purchased a piece of 3/32 " Plexiglas and after experimenting with a number of different blades, and speeds I reverted to my Dremel. I found that the shavings from the Plexiglas clung together and wouldn't dissipate like wood shavings despite having a superb aftermarket blower. I was constantly having to stop and clear the shavings from around the blade. Cheers, Barry.

Hi MrsN, 'scuse the dumb as it's still early and the caffeine hasn't kicked in yet. I'm guessing when you cut your pattern you leave enough on the 4 sides to fill the larger frame and support the matte? Thank you, Barry. (p.s. I cut my own frames)

When you select a pattern to download, on the right side of the pattern under the details there's a green "download" button. Does this download the pattern, or does clicking on this download button also download spam? Thank you, Barry.

What's your preferred method for displaying your scrollwork? Do you hang it as is, do you make a frame, do you make a base so it stands up? I appreciate a lot depends on what the piece is. Thank you, Barry.

Thank you everyone. Sounds like it's best if I leave the router in the table and "freehand" the piece around it. I'll make a couple of practice runs with some scrap, and sand out any imperfections on the finished edge afterwards. Cheers, Barry.

I would like to fit finished pieces into oblong bases, the out-to-out size of the base varies dependant on the project, but usually an inch thick. I have the material, and I have the router and several bits thanks to the father-in-law. The router is properly affixed to a router table. The problem is the only experience I have with routers is cutting out window frames in wall sections. If I take the router out of the table and do it by hand I'm liable to end up with a finished edge on the base that won't have a nice finished edge (basically a mess). I've been to most of the handyman sites on the web and youtube. Any suggestions... perhaps a site I may have missed? Thank you, Barry.

I bought a low end saw on a whim before I retired a year ago. Glad I did 'cause I think I found my niche. Since then I've bought a De Walt and haven't looked back. Not very good at it but can only improve. Although practitioner's here in the Okanagan are a rarity I've found the general comradery, and willingness to share experiences and advice on this site and Steve's absolutely wonderful. Thank you all.
