Hello Graham, I'm Roy from Scotland, welcome to the mad house, well, depending on the weather, sometimes, we can be quite sensible and serious. There's one or two characters in our family, but I'll let you find them out for yourself. As long as you work in wood, and produce good quality TEA and COFFEE, come on in and make yourself at home and most importantly, ENJOY yourself. Rob Roy.

  24. Yes, Nick, the Grand Union is indeed a great piece of navigation. I don't know if this will interest you as it's not a narrow boat but this is where I spent my school summer holidays. A relation of my father's was chief engineer on the boat. Oh what wonderful days they were, and she's still going strong. They used her as a Mine Sweeper in the Clyde during the war. Have a look at WWW.waverleyexcursions.co.uk and see why it was so enjoyable. I think your dad would like it too she still runs steam, all be it an oil fired boiler. Bit easier than shovelling COAL.
  25. Good day to you John. Sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your son. Take a wander round the village as there's lots to see. So a BIG welcome from me, Roy, from Scotland. Any problems, you only need to ask and you'll be inundated with replies. We have a few "Rascals" on the forum who shall remain nameless for the time being. You'll get to know them soon. In the meantime John, come in and make a whole pile of sawdust and most importantly, ENJOY Rob Roy.
