  1. Gosh that is magnificent, well done ... I feel for you re the breakage though.
  2. Great effort there .... bet you held your breath for a bit :-) first pic does look better, but hey the original is a keeper!!
  3. I swear by Flying Dutchman blades including spiral , and buy the 'intro' packs of each kind ... yes I go through blades :-) but there's nothing worse than using a blunt one and having to throw the piece on the burning pile!! I do fretwork, scenic and scrolly writing - nowhere near as professional as the legends here but I'm having fun! Hope this helps, and I concur with what Len and others have suggested. Cheers and Happy Days!! Lorie

  10. Nice cutting there Sir!!
  11. Thanks Peter Makes sense now ;-) very innovative - I like it! Thanks again Cheers LarB
  12. That's great cutting, well done. I hope you don't mind but I have to ask a question about your fourth piece of work...with the scroll writing - how did you keep the timber attached with the 's', 'd' and 'o'??
  13. Awesome work!
  14. That's really swish...nice work!
  15. That's great cutting - well done Larry!
  16. That's a great job, well done!! pardon the question of from an inexperienced scroll saw addict ... how'd you do it???!!!
  17. Thanks Guys Oooh good, another item on my wish list ;-) Thanks Len, I'll take your suggestion on board too! The 'cake stand' is finished and it held up the (home-made) cake quite well - due to it being slightly 'top heavy' needed to hold the legs while cutting a slice or two or three!! next time I'll shorten the legs or bake a smaller cake and yes need to practice icing techniques too!! (pic is in the gallery) I adopted the pattern from 'The Berry Collection' - Music Boxes. Cheers LarB
  18. That's great cutting - well done!
  19. Nice work - very thoughtful too.
  20. Oh WOW ... that is simply stunning workmanship!! Congrats on a super piece
  21. Awesome work Larry ... well done!!! Great inspiration :-)
  22. Hi Guys and thanks for all the great advice! Not having sufficient material to 'stack-cut' I covered the material (front and back) with tape, used what was available for the zero clearance insert - an old business card taped to the deck; went through 3 x #1 (FD) spiral blades gee sharp blades make a difference ;-) and had a very successful day. I also learnt that too finer sandpaper created more fuzzies so I used 120grit. So thank you all again - I still have about a day of sanding to do, so it's not finished yet!! Oh and heaps more practice!!! You guys are great Cheers! Lorie
  23. Many thanks DW, advice taken :-) will provide feedback too. I can't wait until tomorrow now teehee
  24. Hi Guys, interesting views and the advice of using tape on the back is super! I don't want to get off topic here and if I ought to post this as a separate request - I apologise now and please let me know. I'm in a similar predicament with 5/32inch (not Birch!) plywood (top section of a cake-stand) with fretwork edges - am considering using a very low numbered FD spiral blade, may I be cheeky and get your thoughts please? Thanks in advance LarB
  25. You're all very kind, thank you!
