  1. How's the chicken ranch doing !Carl
  2. That video is a wealth of good info ! Save it for future info just in case !
  3. Thumbs and fingers with out scars have not reached their full potential to train the body, My is well trained (aka dumb and dumber) !Patience you too will get there like it or not !
  4. Polishing the Grove -slot also helps .
  5. Dan. Glad to see your on the trail ,( are you still using the blower to clear the kerf ,You could eliminate the need for the blower al together with a small manifold at the lower blade and eliminate a ton of hose and the blower completely, that gets all the octpus out of the picture and makes much more user friendly.Just a suggestion ,I kept getting tangled in all that extra when I tried it ,But if it works to your satisfaction ,thats all that is important ! Carl
  6. That's a great suggestion ,but gets very disabling on small stuff like scrollsaws drill press's and small cabinet's ,larger flex is always in the way and is too stiff even the lighter weight stuff ,What you gain is not worth what you loose in space and ease of use and blockage ! Even a 2 1/2 " std.vac hose is a bear to fight 1" has enough and will pass ever thing ,and no power loss issues !On small applications !3 yrs use with 1" ,used recycled house vac hose,s pond 1"hoses whistles and screams ,tried that too .IMHO Carl I would reccomend going close as practical large then split down size to saw with some slack w/ a slip fit connector!
  7. Dick , It will come to you when you see the little block clear ,I have seen it all my life, one day something clears that block and you have a keen interest and new eyes ,In school I could not make head nor tails out of Fractions failed miserably ,next yr I quasp the concept and could not get enough of them ,still to this day math is a favorite .I just can't tell you what the trigger was .Sub consious mind working behind the scenes I guess ,hang in there ,Tomorrow is a new day !
  8. Well done, now you just have to find the time to be able to GO!
  9. In my mind ,the pattern is useless if you cannot cut it,after you learn to cut and control your cutting ,Ideas are easier to relate and experience will lead you to the area of your best abilities, the natural progression, there are a lot of saws out there sitting idle before the bug bites again . Not to worry,if the real interest is there,at your will, & go at your own speed, as far as you really want ,as your time and situation permits ,The key is to enjoy the hobby ,be as good as you can at what you are presently able !The rest is a work in progress ! JMHO (We all know what that is worth )Later Carl
  10. Hot off the saw ,raining too much humidity ,to finish today! Letting my imagination run free! Later Carl !
  11. You can always shim a 3" pvc cap and drill to fit what ever size you want or cut with scroll saw it and glue sleeve or fitting in the hole !
  12. Yes Kathy there is a SANTA CLAUS ,He can't do custom jobs because everyone has different limitations ,that HB small unit, in mho would work well, Your saw has limits as well, space mainly ,I would suggest a Fein style cyclone seporater DIY or a dust devil (budget issue) ,I have posted many versions and improvements over the last few years up to the present to totally dust free ,your welcome to use any of the ideas that your abilities allow it is very achievable, takes more time than money . The simple secret is the ability to put the negative pressure (suction) as close to the saw dust source as possible top and bottom at the blade mine is in a semi sealed mini manifold on the bottom ,gets about 80% top 19.9% .Good luck have fun enjoy the journey ,the system you choose is based entirely on the results you are happy with. Mine is 4' from this computer,as a gauge as to how well it works .It's all there in different posts, the major differences are at the saw,and your choices of of entrance and exits .Sounds like you have the time ,take it and think it thru and you will be very happy with the results. Later ,Carl
  13. Break down and invest in new assembly ,will solve all your issues ,w/o need of thread stripper knob ,even anti-sieze has it's limits after the kind of use your saw see's ! Your a pro ,hate too see you back slide ,except in emergency ! Carl
  14. My eldest, Son, ignored my hand signals when cutting firewood yrs ago and chewed up little and next fingers on left hand ,two weeks later OSHA sent me a letter wanting information and wanted my suggestion on how to eliminate such accidents buy forcing the manufacturer to install additional safeties before they could sell in USA ,I wrote back to back ( large Decal, stating for complete safety (LEAVE PACKED IN BOX)! Strangely ,I never received any further requests! Sorry to hear of your experience ,I am a full fledged member of the club ,I just chose the thumb,It now sings to me when it gets very cold ! Heal well my friend ! Later Carl
  15. Well done ,I love response ,to reaction when possible ,burned some bridges, too, reacting first ! lifes lessons ,now when I react ,I do it ,with BOTH feet and no regrets ! CARL P.S. After the fat Lady Sings !!
  16. Flat is the key, We, who do fret work forget how many thousand time we loosen and tighten those clamp screws ,The anti-sieze compound ,really adds major life and ease to the process ! Later, Carl
  17. Josh ! My 788 has mega hrs on it ,replaced blade clamps ,quite a while back ( I use anti-sieze compound on the threads(only) But I have found (being a bottom loader)just before reconnecting the blade,I thunk the upper clamp w/ the heel of my hand to re-align and remove extra travel between upper and lower blade assemblies then insert blade and clamps ,really helps 95% of the time ,seems to remove (PLAY & or SLOP in clamps ) not enough to really see or feel ,but is there anytime you have multiply bushing or bearings in line, and a flexible blade. Takes tension back 2 # for me ! I assume you have already made sure clamp screws and set screws are set & lock-tited correctly already ! Later Carl
  18. I would not laugh too Hard at the thought of composite blade coming to market ,all a matter of resin costs ,I have personally Injection molded plastic that is harder than ( Ti) titanium ,for bearings in jet engines . That stuff was $ 800.00 # .Just a matter of time and Money ! Supply and demand ,when it is justifiable ,it will show up !
  19. Will wait for resolution ,enough booboo's to all around some one should hear the other side's plan,if any before I need to order ,no issues with current FD's . Please keep us informed ,be ashame to have to switch suppliers . Thanks for the post !
  20. Hey! Where"s one in a KILT ! no discrimination allowed !TEE HEE!
  21. Picture EYE CATCHING !Well done ! causes pause, and thats sign of quality of work!
  22. Purpose of box dictates ,multi-use line ,beautiful as is ,Hard choice !
  23. Major lesson: I relearned AGAIN ,When you take the time to adjust everything to the EVERY BLADE's ABILITY to cut YOU WILL be much happier with all you work ! Carl !
  24. Bob, That was a great Battery charger for me,It made me really think and clean up my sloppy act that I had gotten into .With my DeWalt 788 and MY attitude readjusted .I am looking forward to the next one with new eyes and enthusiasm & confidence. Later Carl
  25. The Blade is always Boss ,Your just the feeder of the wood. Choose the blade that best suits the job at hand ,spirals are no different (in that respect) ,the finer the teeth the harder to get the saw dust out of the gullet,w/o clearing the gullet you have a poor rasp your trying to cut with,MY Vac. over powers the dust of all blades allowing the blades to do their job ,I do not have overheating ,or stretching of even the tiniest blade as long as I work with the limits of the blades ability ,smooth even straight gentle pressure . I do not have to start and stop for any thing as long as I follow the rules ,THE BOSS IS ALL WAYS The BLADE . Those who use blowers, have a job on your hands clearing the kerf especially w/ fine blades ,You just have to deal with the conditions you have . IT is what it is unless you can change it! Carl
