Made the trip to look at the Dewalt 788, it was all the man said it was. Fresh as a daisey except for the coat of rust on the table, but after a few minutes with a electric sander and 180 grit emery it was good as new. Now for a coat of wax and I can finally get to sawing. I did check for the type number and it said type one, I got lucky on this road trip....sorry for the long post

Can anyone tell me at what point in years did the Dewalt scroll saw move its manufacturing from Canada to China? The reason I ask is , I have found a used 788 about 8 to 10 years of age with about an hours use on it, but the table has a light coat of rust on it. Any help would be appreciated.

It don't look like I will be sawing on a new saw as promised, the dealer got an email stating delivery date pushed up to sometime in May. At 73 years of age those are not words I like to hear. Haha

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, I was surprised at my local carvers meeting tonight to find out how many of my fellow carvers own scroll saws and use them but don't share their works with the rest of the membership, I guess I will have to start a new trend if my new ex21 gets here like the dealer promised. As to my winter , it was brutal, one of the coldest in 100 years,I hope spring , springs soon.

Joined last week , no saw as yet but have one ordered . Supposed to be here by end of month. Have done a lil scroll sawing w/less quality saws but not much. Hope the new addition peeks my interest.
