  1. Fairly new scroll sawyer. Have RBI Hawk model 226 Ultra purchased back in 2003. Of all of that time much of it with the scroll saw doing nothing but sitting. Wanting to get back into it. I am an optometrist getting ready to retire on the 1st of December this year, and will have lots of time on my hands. Only problem now is I have a scroll saw that is under the weather so to speak. I think I managed to botch up or lose a part to the rear tensioning assembly and I am badly in need of help. This is one of the reasons for my joining your group. I live in Southern California in the Community of Trilogy in Corona. Cell phone (texting or phoning) (951)907-4708 e-mail: docjosh@msn.com would be anxious to hear from someone who can help Thanks in advance
  2. I've been scrolling for many years. It's good for the soul....but not sure about sawdust in the lungs. I love it. I have my own "man cave" in the garage.... but I'm a woman. I have many things for sale in a store at Estes Park, Colorado.
  3. Hello I am new to this forum and to scroll sawing, since retiring i've been looking for a new hobby and invested a little money in buying a Proxxon DSH Scrollsaw. I have upgraded it by smoothing and polishing the table and buying a selection of Swiss saw blades. I have been bought a few good pattern books for Christmas and i am now looking forward to getting proficient in its use. I have done general woodwork all of my life and remember my dad making lots of items on his treadle fret saw and still have some of his patterns from the 1930s. I holiday a lot is the USA where there is a lot of woodcraft done, pity is not the same over here in the UK unless you know better and if do please share! Looking forward to many hours of scrolling!
  4. Brand new to this site. Looks very nice. Just downloaded a pattern and am looking forward to cutting it. Have Hawk G4 and have been scrolling (also making designer firewood) since I retired in 2010. Keeps me off the streets and out of of the way of "old whats her name". Anybody out there close by? "All scrollers should have a fireplace" Bob
  5. Hi everyone, I Just wanted to introduce myself, as a new member. I have been a wood working hobbyist for a little while, but am an old guy (83) with arthritic problems which don't help my standing around. I figured that if I could continue my woodworking hobby in any way, it would likely be in scroll sawing, since I feel I could do that while seated. I have been researching scroll saws online, and think that the DeWalt 788 seems like the best choice for me. I don't want to go on too long about this, because I am probably in the wrong section of the forum to discuss this. However, I am wondering now, since I have read that the Excalibur, and the DeWalt were both originally made by the Sommerville company, but have now been lately manufactured in an Asian country, and that quality control has deteriorated. I will search further in the forum and see what I can learn, and will then update my intro. when I decide on which saw, and then make my purchase
  6. My name is Bob, I started doing scroll work about six years ago and absolutely love doing it every day and modifying scrollsaw and teaching people now how to use a saw . The hobby is just getting going down here . And every year I have a scroll saw weekend where a few of us get together and have a really good weekend I always have it on the third weekend of November which this year is the 17th and 18th of November. And some people come from as far away as 900 km or South Australia and New South Wales. A long time ago I had a e-mail chat with Travis . anyone I better see if this works I have never done this before in this way, it's different. Cheers from Bob
