  1. Theres a reason the bandsaw is the butchers tool of choice! I got cut by a bandsaw as a kid working in grandpas shop. I didn't cut anything off but it still hurt like heck!!
  2. I cant help you out with what you need but I know Delta parts are hard to come by right now. Delta has been bought and sold a couple of times over the years and they are apparently having a hard time with this last transition. Once you figure out what you need, you may have better luck getting parts from Ebay or another source rather than through Delta directly.
  3. http://www.scrolleronline.com/product/9308/321 http://lumberjocks.com/Leldon/blog/25317 Dosnt look like these are clickable links but you should be able to C&P. Ill learn!
  4. No problem. Id love to share. I just didn't wanna break the rules. Heres the blog with the tutorial... and heres the pattern books I ordered... Hmmm, I suppose I dunno how to post links here. Other forums I belong too, I just copy and paste them. Does it work another way here?
  5. Thank you, thank you!!! With more tips from the great folks here, I was able to refine my search some more. I finally came across a blog by a fellow that makes these baskets. He has a whole step by step tutorial posted and within his blog, he had a link to a site that sold a couple of different pattern books for this style basket. I just ordered both of the books and saved his blog for future reference. Ill admit, I didn't read all the rules when I joined, so Im gonna go read the rules now regarding links from other sites. If Im allowed, Ill post those a link to the blog and to the patterns for those that have interest in weaving baskets on their scroll saw!! Thanks again, you folks are awesome!! Okay, I cant find the TOS. Can someone point me in the right direction or tell me if Im allowed to post links. I don't wanna get in trouble especially since Im new here! Cancel that, I found the rules!!
  6. Welcome! Im new here too and new to scrolling. In the 2 days Ive been here, Ive discovered this place is loaded with talented and nice people willing to help newbies like us!!
  7. The book I have is called "Making Wooden Baskets On Your Scroll Saw" by John A Nelson. There are a ton of patterns in the book but they are all the stack style baskets. Those are really cool and we'll make some because they will be awesome gifts. Were most interested in the woven style. Ill have a look around and see if maybe I missed something though.
  8. Well, I dunno about all that. I still have to learn how to use the machine first! lol If by chance we do figure this out, Ill definitely share what we learned. What we are wanting to do isn't our idea though, we stole it! Those pics I posted, she found on either Etsy or Pinterest. The weave is what we like about this design. Even though its all solid wood, it looks woven. The stack style that are in the book I bought, look stacked. None of them really offer that true basket look that we are trying to achieve. Im determined to figure it out!! Oh and my wifes name is Tina.
  9. I definitely appreciate the video. Ill probably try several of those. The video covers all the same designs that are in the book I have. The one I pictured is a slightly different design. Im assuming not a lot of people make these as I cant find a single thing about them anywhere. If anyone else has any info on the design and construction or a tutorial even, Id love to check it out. Its looking like Im gonna have to break out some scrap wood and just have at it and see if I can figure it out!
  10. Thanks, Ill check out the video! If they arnt cut at an angle then you very little glue surface. Correct? I really don't know, Im just trying to come up with a pattern and a plan based on these pics. Going to watch video now!
  11. Hey everyone. Been looking all over this great forum and there are so many cool things here. Cant wait to really learn how to scroll and start producing cool scroll art!! Okay, as I mentioned in my interdiction, my wife saw some projects she liked and decided to try scrolling. Obviously she and I are both beginners with a scroll saw so were just playing with simple practice patterns and what not right now. Just trying to learn how this machine works. Her ultimate goal is to start making scroll saw baskets. I purchased some books for her by John Nelson on basket making but they are a different type of basket. Ive searched all over the net trying to find more info on the style of basket she wants to make and I didn't really find anything except this forum! That's not so bad huh!?! So the baskets she wants to make are cut from a single plank. The upper ring is cut, then the weaver rings and what is left is the base. Every other weaver is rotated 180 degrees and some separate uprights are cut. Obviously this is cut at an angle and by looking at pics the dimension of the curve where the uprights go is critical so that there are no gaps in the glue up. Im sure I did a horrible job of explain that so Ill include pics of the basket she fell in love with and prompted all of this. My question today is, does anyone know of a site or a book that will lead us down the road to producing these baskets? I cant seem to find anything anywhere. I suppose I could figure out the angle and that gap dimension with some trial and error. Just trying to help push her along in the right direction so she dosnt give up. This is the first aspect of woodworking she has ever really been interested in so I want her to stay interested. Thanks for any info and help!
  12. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Marg, Ill mention it to her. She dosnt typically get into online forums where Im a regular member to several. I love interacting with like minded people and learning from those that are experienced. Yes, we probably will buy a second saw at some point because we bought a cheap one. If scrolling is something we enjoy and Im sure it will be, a huge upgrade will be needed. The saw we bought is the new Craftsman model. Its not much but should give us an idea of what we are wanting to do. Here in a few months, we may be upgrading to a DeWalt or a GI.
  13. Hey scroll sawers. Im Dennis from Grove City, OH. Im mostly a woodturner but my wife recently came across some projects she likes that prompted us to purchase a scroll saw. Now were both learning together. Ive never really needed a scroll saw in the past but Ive always admired scroll saw work. Now Im excited to learn the ropes and log some hours at the scroll saw. Hope to learn a lot from you guys and get to a point that I can actually contrite to your great site.
