  2. Welcome back, I also recently returned to scrolling. Do it mostly to relax sort of like therapy.
  3. Purchased these on amazon 25 tubes with caps for $7.00 They come with a cardboard holder. I did not use it but good price for blade storage and free shipping with prime. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SBZC0RC/ref=cfb_at_prodpg?th=1

    Mr

    Welcome aboard
  5. Decide to comment as basic user I only scroll for fun not for sales or profit. I had a dewalt & now a Delta both top feeders. I do set up initial blade from top but do most other cuts with blade connection on bottom.

  9. Don't look bad for price I could see it as a book holder and storage. Figure in time and materials to build it not a bad price but figure in a few extra dollars for tax as eBay is going to start collecting sales tax.
  10. There have been s few references in this thread to a digital copy. If they would make one I would rescribe again. I have reached the point in my life being 68 yrs old that I like to keep things simple .I do not want to spend my time digging through magazines when I can just print out article or pattern that interests me. Which is why I still subscribe to woodsmith even though I do not do many big projects anymore. I think the publisher is missing a big audience market by not going digital at the very least they are losing money and marketing targets with me because If they were digital I would buy there scroll and carving magazines.
  11. Welcome ,it's a great place to get good information and have some fun at the same time.
  12. I use 3M 8210 Plus Paint Sanding Dust Particulate Respirators, N95, 20-Pack They are disposable type but good quality about $20. For a box of 20.
  13. I used the VHT silver spray on the exhaust manifold of a Model A and it held up well for the time I owned the car.
  14. hard woods work work well. Most finishes will not hold up to the heat but there are heat resistance paint like for BBQ's or maybe a stain. Steve Good has some trivets for free download on his online cat maybe be good for ideas. https://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php
  15. I moved with one of the pod containers to keep shipping costs low so there was not a lot of space. The nice thing about a scroll saw is it fits anywhere. I do miss my floor drill press. I could get another one but not sure I need it now I use to do some auto repair mostly 40-50's mopars. As to compressors I had a 80 gal IR compressor which of course I left but I did bring a pancake compressor with me.
  16. As I am getting back to scrolling I have been using 5/16 plywood I think it is called luan plywood or door skins its relatively inexpensive. I have tried common pine but it is pain to cut around knots so usually use clear pine, popular is also a good choice. I get either 3/4 or 1-1/2 of the wood and rip it down to thickness size on my table saw, don't forget you lose about 1/4" for blade width

  18. Looks good, as long as it's comfortable for you that is perfect when you put in some long hours at the saw

Welcome aboard, scrolling is enough of a challenge for I would not want to add in embroidery!
  22. Thanks for the welcomes. It will be about 2 weeks until I can get in any real shop time. But so far I like the Delta it doesn't seem much different then the Dewalt I had.
  23. Its been a few years since I posted here, life got complicated, sold my house last year and made a long distance move so sold most of my tools. Anyhow missed scrolling so picked up a new saw. Considered a few options looked at the Wen as it had a low price , but had a Dewalt 788 in the past and knew that the wen was not going to work for me. So was looking for a good price on the dewalt when I found HD had the delta 20" on sale for $299. It was delivered yesterday made a few test cuts today some Halloween stuff, its going to take a little to get back up to making some decent cuts. Anyhow so far happy with the Delta does not seem much different then the dewalt . Been so long it took me awhile to figure out where this forum was on the net.
  24. I purchased some wheels from rockleller They have a stem and fit through the hole in the Dewalt leg set. I had to buy a set of for below is a link to what they look like it may have been these but it was about a year or so ago so not sure . They are at full price right now but usually go on sale. They work great for me yes it is a little top heavy but not a problem http://www.rockler.com/total-lock-shop-stand-casters
