  1. ebay is a tough market because of so many sellers. I sell on ebay Not scroll stuff some older auto related items and some collectibles been there for 15 + years. You can search on closed auctions(complete) items that would give you a idea of what is selling. searching on complete which is auctions that have ended in handcrafts section http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=crafts+scroll&_sac=1&LH_Complete=1&_osacat=71183&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC2.A0.H0.Xscroll.TRS1&_nkw=scroll&_sacat=71183 This also includes sold items ( ones in green) and there are not of sales. You could also search on sold which would just show what was sold.
  2. The craftsman would be ok but the problem is that if you enjoy scrolling and want to upgrade there is not much of a resale for the craftsman or similar saws.
  3. Here is a Steve Good ball & cage scroll and carve the ball http://www.stevedgood.com/ballandcage.pdf
  4. Looks great !!
  5. I have the dewalt purchased it last year works well for me. Be warned scrolling can be addictive
  6. The general problem with poor quailty products in almost no company takes any pride in what the make, they just want to sell as many as possible to make the most profit. Its not too hard to cut a stright line just takes alittle pratice once you realise that most scroll at least my dewalt tends to cut a little off to the side not dead stright ahead but after awhile you do not even think about it.
  7. My thoughts on used tools is they are like used cars if parts are avaiable and you know how to fix them they are fine otherwise they can wind up costing you more in repairs then a new. If you know the seller it may be a good otherwise its just a roll of the dice.
  8. Nice pics and in 1st photo is a almost extint tool a screwdriver that is made in usa !
  9. I really do dislike the time change, it makes no sense to me never did. Only plus is being retired it does not cost me any sleep. I make some clocks and started using motors that auto adjust for the time changes
  10. New to scrolling myself been working wood a long time. While like you I am not totally addicted like many here. I do some work and leave it for a while but, there is something about the scroll saw that calls me back I think the main thing is it easy to use ,not much set up and materials are inexpnsive but mostly its just a fun tool to use.
  11. I know what you mean I asked a transistor battery (needed a 9 volt) and got a strange look from the college age clerk .
  12. Good company I have been buying from them for many years
  13. I must be doing something wrong, have'nt broken a blade yet. I am new at this but tend to change blades when I feel too much resistance. Still mostly just paratice cutting and find a sharp blade is easy to work with and scroll saw blade are do not cost much. I have been using Olson blades as that is what I usually use on my band saw and found them to be a good blade.
  14. While I am new to scrolling I do other wood work so usually have plenty of scrap around to pratice on and enough tools to adust the scrap to fit my needs. So if not your self maybe some friends have some project scraps you can have. Also depending where you live so towns have a bulk pickup and some good wood can be found for free and a little effort.
  15. Good idea not only a strong support for the drill press but it looks good too
  16. A table saw is not unsafe you just need to respect it. You can cut your finger when carving a turkey if you are not careful. A table saw is a great tool I have used one for years. Once you get use to the saw you will be amazed what you can do with it. Get the best you can afford a cheap tool is never a good investment.
  17. Looks good and with a hand saw my arm is tired just thinking about it
  18. Looking at the fish and being a new to scrolling gives me a chance to ask a question. How do you get the lines on the fish, marker paint, pencil ?
  19. Good tip I learned something today. Next time I change a blade will try to repurpse for scroll saw
  20. I printed that a few days ago but did not cut it yet.
  21. Nice work
  22. When I search ebay I search by lowest price as some sellers have a very high opnion of there products. Might help if it was searchable by price in a catagory
  23. I use a kerosean heater, its a redi heter with a blower type fan. heats my 12 x 14 shop quickly. Propane is another option good option.
